I could understand how a person who is ethnically Jewish could become a Christian (or any other religion for that matter-Jewish isnt exclusively a religion-its also an ethnicity-which is why some Jews arent religious), but why is Messianic Judaism considered a form Judaism if they believe Jesus is the messiah? Christianity, by definition, believes Christ is the messiah and follows the New Testament AND the old testament, but Judaism, by definition as a religion, only believes in the Old Testament-and they dont believe in Jesus. So why are Messianic Jews considered Christians and not Jews? One may argue that Messianic Jews are Christians because they are ethnic Jews who follow Christianity, but many non ethnic Jews attend Messianic congregations and consider themselves Jews and Christians at the same time. I know it sounds confusing, but its true. I know some people who are Messianic Jews but arent Jews ethnically.
Christianity doesn't follow the Old Testament. It considers the laws & regulations in it to be null & void by the "New Covenant".
Christianity follows the whole Bible and the Messianic Jews understand the Messiah is the fulfillment of the Scriptures.
Messianic Hebrews worship a man as a deity, and show respect towards images and statues of holy men. this is why they are no longer real Jews.
A Jew can no more stop being a Jew than a German can stop being a German. They can stop practicing Judaism, or as is the more common understanding, they have accepted the Messiah and are now 'completed Jews'.
I know several messianic jews. Of the three, only one is ethnically Jewish. The other two started as pentecostal christians. Incidentally, these two say it's a natural progression of christianity
Is that any more arrogant than Christianity saying they are the only religion that is right and all non-believers will go to hell? Mainstream Messianic Jews believe that Jesus is the foretold Messiah and God the Son - but not necessarily in the trinity. Salvation is through Christ's sacrifice, not works. It had it's beginnings in the early 19th century in a small way but started to blossom mid 20th century. But there are various differences in the movement.
no that kind of stuff is just arrogant. except Jesus didn't fulfill the prophecy so............ . Yup as a Christian movement and yet all Christians.
The reason is that these Jews who accept Christ are the priests of the Kingdom to come: Exodus 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
