There were no Christians until Paul and Barnabas created them in Antioch = Acts 11:25-26 https://classic.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts11:25-26&version=ERV;CEV;NLV;NKJV;NLT

According to the fairy tale, the only person who has ever gone to heaven was the Jesus character. You WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN. The old heaven will pass away and a giant bejeweled gold cube called New Jerusalem will be created on a waterless planet that doesn't have any periods of darkness. You might make it into the golden cube if you can pass through one of the twelve gates dedicated to the twelve tribes of Israel.

There was a cult called The Way. Paul hunted down the members and killed them. They were not Christians. Haven't you ever read the fairy tale?

Committed sins, used Christianity as a political tool when he was actually opposed to the teachings of Christ.

Yes. I don't have any questions for you.

You claim you have some question for me, but I haven't seen one yet.

Yes, like all humans he committed sins. And, at best the rest of your post is a claim that his beliefs weren't identical to yours.

But, we have LARGE numbers of denominations of the Abrahamic faiths, all of which recognize and revere Jesus. There are lots of religious differences among adherents to those numerous versions. Our founders were mostly deists and some didn't believe in miracles or other supernatural phenomena. And, we are founded on the principle that we may hold any religious belief we want - Abrahamic or not.

MLK Jr was a hugely accomplished individual, and assaulting him on the grounds of religious differences hits me as pretty darn miserable - and very obviously unAmerican.

Your inability to comprehend may signal a need for remedial courses in reading.

I will not debate you as to what I believe or don't believe. You don't know me and you don't what I believe or don't believe. You're simply trying your damnest to initiate a whizzing contest in a vain effort to have one of your buddies ban me for having the audacity to disagree with you. You don't know anything about American history and your efforts to change the subject are proof that you could not dismiss what I've already said regarding the real topic. What you believe is fantasy; what you accuse me of is lies and B.S.

    WOW!

I said NOTHING about what you believe. I'm fine with you having any religious beliefs you want.

But, that is totally off topic.

All of your posts have been a direct assault on what you THINK I believe in. Give it up. If you want to have a personal discussion, PM me. Otherwise, can you keep your comments relative to the topic?

I have no reason to "assault" your religion - even if I knew what the heck it is.

I have not done that, nor do I intend to in the future.

If you think something is off topic, then point it out. I might even agree!!

I have no interest in a "personal discussion".

OMG, are you STILL beating this dead horse? Do you have anything NEW to add to the discussion that has not been discussed? If not, maybe you could find something better to do than play Internet games with me.

It was you who decided to lock onto me with your pointless drivel, ad hom and false claims.

I'm fine right where I am.

Again, I'm not here to discredit your religious beliefs. You have freedom of religion, right?

If I had religious freedom (which I don't), then there would always be people around that think like I do and want to take it.

You are free to hold to your personal religious beliefs.

Others are free, too, so there is no guarantee that anyone will share your beliefs.

Maybe you could illuminate your concern by giving some examples of how you don't have religious freedom.

No matter how many examples I give, we can rest assured that you will think you shot them down. The FIRST time I witnessed government control of churches was when the government forced Bob Jones University to change their tenets of faith. I wondered back then why, if we have a separation of church and state, would the government require registration and then exempt them from taxation if they preached doctrines consistent with public policy. In this instance, Bob Jones University was threatened with the loss of their tax exempt status for prohibiting inter-racial dating / marriage on campus.

The government threatened to pull their non-profit status, their head monkey had a nightmare (called it an epiphany) and suddenly the tenets of their faith changed.

I recall the Tea Party having to go to court over being harassed by the IRS. So, you have NO idea what it's like for minority religions. All you can do is blow smoke. The government will allow 20 Mexicans to live in one house, but if I have 12 guests over for Bible study, it is unlawful assembly, too many cars parked in the driveway, etc. When you go to rent a building, the landlord can say no if your ideology is not mainstream or offensive to the local constabularies. You do not qualify for non-profit status if your religion conflicts with public policy - like the preachers who refuse to accept vaccinations. And NO, don't be flippant, my complaint is not about any one of those specific issues save of the unlawful assembly. That was B.S.; we're getting a new sheriff next election so maybe that changes. Otherwise, your skepticism will not equal a valid refutation of the truth, but we know you have to try.

They've threatened to cite me for unlawful assembly. It's kind of hard to make a case when I go into court and show you pictures of multiple cars parked in front of a house because third worlders are living 20 to a house. But, why should a Bible study group, meeting in a private home, discussing the Bible have to be approved by the government?

Yes - the government can't support racism.

That doesnpt mean Bob Jones can't continue as a racist organization. It just means that the government isn't going to pay them to do that.

    You can't complain abou that.
That's a zoning ordinance issue. So, cases involving violations will be addressed by the courts, not by some sheriff.

I'd point out that you can't open an Elk's or Moose hall, either. The restriction that offends you isn't about religion.

What you are asking for is an exemption from laws that have nothing to do with religion. You can't hold a naked pig roast in your front yard regardless of whether you consider it a religious observance.

Do you have ANY idea what that would mean for law if all one had to do to void the law is claim that it conflicts with your religious preferences?

Then, you move on to suggest that property owners shouldn't be able to make decisions on how their property is used - an immediate flip flop.

But, NONE of that has anything to do with MLK Jr - which is what this thread is about.
