Waco would've turned out a lot different if it had been millions of people spread out across the nation.

I don't know if he understands this but the government resides in the same Nation and if they knew to their home well they wouldn't exist either. And I suppose yeah if the government got to the point where they said wheel in this war even if we have to commit suicide we wouldn't stand a chance.

But the citizenry outnumbers the military by damn near 100 to 1 and they're far more outgunned by the citizenry. That's assuming the military will not disobey and defend the people.

I don't think a wacko dictator stands a chance in our country.

@TheDonald - Every single one of our military men has sworn an oath to defend the Constitution, including the 2A, from all enemies foreign and domestic. That's exactly what they will do.

They will be fighting on the side of those defending the Constitution from people who think like you.... and so will I.

hes a gun grabber that doesnt know what govt by the people for the people is. He thinks because we dont have a thermonuke to shoot at an intruder that we really arent armed. Thats his argument. I dont know about you but Ill defend my family with my handguns rather than a thermonuke or one of those james bond missiles he thinks they are going to take you out with from a thousand miles away.

Ah, the Op Church thread makes sense now. Anti gun.

Gun nut here, I have gun nuts all over the floor, bathe in gun nuts, house decorated in gun nut theme and I own a truck fueled by gun nuts. Own many trees that produce gun nuts. Named my son gun nut Toefoot.

The 2nd Amendment is the Supreme Law of the Land.

    Believe it, or not.

That won't work for the long term. The people would quickly catch on and even the media have families and friends. The deterrent still works, even though it wouldn't be pleasant for anybody. And who says that I don't believe in democracy? I vote, compromise, and speak my mind. I'm not a one dimensional person who lives by use of force.

The weakness of an armed citizenry is greatly exaggerated. Think North Vietnam. They had very little and a poorly equipped air force (though good SAMs) and they moved troops into battle with a soldier carrying all his stuff in a backpack while walking or riding bicycles down the dirt-based Ho Chi Minh trail. They overcame and beat a highly formidable military. A top USSR commander said it best in the 80s (IIRC): we can defeat America in a war, but we could never occupy America because they would have a citizen with a rifle behind every tree.

The only reason they haven't been wiped off the map is because we've shown so much restraint.

    WTF?

That example has nothing to do with US.

They were used as an example of a government turning on it's own (armed) citizens

Forgive me I just woke up and have no idea what you're talking about and I'm not going to go back and read the thread.

But okay if Iraq and Iran are your best examples I'm not too worried.

North Vietnam had a modern trained military complete with the latest air defense systems and a jet equipped air force. All supplied by foreign powers. What foreign power is going to take on the US military in defense of some misguided gun nuts?

    Cmon. Do better than that

You dont think The People have enough laws they must abide by? Fair enough. Vote for more. If enough of us agree with you, we will become more regulated. We The People ( aka:The Militia according to US Code) are regulated as much as we think think we need to be.

Methinks you are putting words in my mouth. You were telling us how tough you were with all your weaponry, and I was effectively laughing at the pompacity of your remark

First you have to have a military that would wage all out war on their citizens. Frankly I don't see that happening.
