Setting aside for the moment the cause of global warming, we need to look at the inevitability of it. lets face it, were not going to easily reverse the effects of a few hundred years, that is, if the cause is not sun spots. What we need to do is look at the results in a positive way, an ocean more full so to speak. According to the attached article, the oceans are going to rise. A lot. Well, that means there is going to be a lot more ocean front property. The article also says that temperatures are going to rise, a lot. So, that means that areas too cold to grow food now, will become breadbaskets. Lets look at a couple of instances where thats an actual benefit: New Jersey. Right now the north is a pestilent ridden mass of refineries and factories all along the shore. Well, when this old world gets to heating up some, theyll all be gone. Poof! Underwater or washed away. And well have all this nice, wonderful tropical shore line just oozing rest, relaxation and recreation. Meanwhile, places like Mexico, Florida and Hawaii which are now vacation Meccas will be too hot to even walk around. And Hawaii will be too small. Think about it! New Jersey, a vacation wonderland replacing Miami! And the best part? Washington will be the modern Atlantis. And the hated UN? Gone, baby, gone! Now thats something to cheer for. Now about food. If what the accompanying article says is true, all of the US and Canada mid west which now produce grain will be orange groves and vineyards and banana plantations. And what was tundra? That will be a vast grain producing region three to five times the size of what we have now. Think about it! Bread for everyone, no more starving people in Africa! Canada and Russia with oil and resources will become the economic engines of the world! Look, the polar bears are going to be OK, Theyve been through this before, lots of times. The seals, though, theyre toast, but they stink anyway. Every been anywhere near a rookery? Ugh. So, instead of worrying and arguing and gnashing teeth, lets get ready to embrace this God-sent boon. Run out right now and buy property in New Jersey and Canadas north. http://www.csmonitor.com/Environmen...by-conservative-group-confirms-global-warming
possum thinks it'd be a good idea... ... to speed up global warmin' inna winter time... ... an' slow it down inna summer time.
I could have beach front property??!! I'll have a longer growing season and i can grow tropicals. ALRIGHT!!
Now we're talking! Think of all the benefits. Skiers will be pissed off but I've never liked them anyway.
I'm thinkin' I'm in a good place - Western Arizona. My property should be pretty good. Almost beachfront! I like MisLed's thinking ---- we can all grow tropicals when this happens!
Seriously though. I know you must be pulling our leg a little but i am confident that humankind will be able to adjust to this. And. I am sure there WILL be some benefits.
We could certainly use the money. And I'm not delusional enough to believe humans can change the weather.
Michigan will be the new Florida with fresh water and no sharks. The Dems will finally have reached Utopia. _
There is always water skiing though and I like that much better. Being just a short distance from Lake Michigan if that rises, I would have beach front property and warm winters....I love it...give me more global warming!!!
http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/...Global-Warming-Pictures/Statue-of-Liberty.htm Photos of Global warming results. Change is good right? That's what we've been told.
I just think it's cool that Al Gore invented both the internet and global warming. I can't wait to see what he has for us next.
More ocean-front property will certainly thrill Miami residents when all their city goes underwater. Likewise a shift of agricultural growing regions away from where they are now to other areas will certainly thrill the nations losing their agricultural base, like the US If we could all "start the game over", their might be some benefits, but we'll suffer unimaginable economic disruption due to GW, and what's called the "Western World" will certainly fade from emminence
He "invented" niether, nor claimed he did. Assertions like yours ought to include reputable links if not universally accepted
Actually, FearandLoathing, I don't think we have to worry about global warming. You and the others in our forum may be surprised to learn this, but “global warming" is not global. The Latest satellite data show temperatures are increasing slightly in the northern hemisphere, but they have remained constant for many decades in the southern hemisphere. The reason the temperatures are increasing in the northern hemisphere is because most of these measurements are recorded and reported near the "hot" population centers. You would expect the average temperature to be slightly higher near these very active locations! Global Satellite Data The following figure shows a more recent satellite data trend from the RSS analysis 1979 - 2008 [http://www.ssmi.com/msu/msu_data_description.html]. The left-hand figure shows regional warming around the world, the right-hand figure shows the average warming by latitude – zero warming at 60 degrees S with increasing warming into the Arctic. This illustrates that recent warming is a northern hemisphere phenomenon. http://www.appinsys.com/GlobalWarming/GW_NotGlobal.htm ... (See page 9)
I guess so, but only if there's hope too. Change and hope, which is what I'm trying to do here. I am so pleased to see some much positive response! Hope and Change! Hope and Change! Hope and Change! Hope and Change!
Now THAT it interesting and it makes loads of sense. What we need to do is to just go after these large population centers and require only THEM to make spartan changes.
I am sorry, but you may no have read or understood my entire post. What was farm land in the US before, all those wasted corporately held acres and acres of corn to be turned into some form of "ose" to be used in McWeendy burgers would become a vacation Mecca. Think about it! Acres and acres of Disney worlds for which we can soak the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of the rich Chinese and East Indians..... We will no face....we will own he world through American ingenuity!
Actually it is the other way around. Al Gore was quoted as saying he "invented" the internet many years ago. It has become an established fact, having been reported again and again and even the subject of many late night talk shows. Allowing for the fact that these things sometimes become urban legend, it is up to Al Gore and his cult follower to present a believable denial...if there has even been one. And further, perhaps he did not say he "invented" the internet. But he most certainly said he "created it." [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpxtKcLSFWw"]Al Gore - Creator of the Internet - YouTube[/ame] As to global warming. No he did not "invent' it nor create it....he created sleazy propaganda which created hysteria which created an entire multi-billion dollar industry employing 25 million people world wide.
