Will God hold sins against you that you commit in your dreams?

    I've wondered about this for some time. There are numerous sins I've had dreams (literal dreams while sleeping) in which I've committed acts that are clearly sins both as I believe sin to be and most Protestant churches do as well.

    Does God hold such things against us given that according to the Bible he apparently holds sinful thoughts such as hate and lust to be equal to overt sins resulting from them?

    I wouldn't worry about it, as long as you're not consciously doing something. But I know how you feel.

    Jesus said that salvation is on the basis of works. The idea that Sin's don't matter is a later variation of Christianity based on Pauline Christianity.

    Sometimes people are not themselves in their dreams, so I would say not necessarily.

    Actions typically stem from what's in the heart, so I suppose in some sense you could say that actual actions, from the point of view of individual motivating factors, are a moot point.

    It would be analogous to trying to commit a wrong against someone, but not actually succeeding in causing the wrong.

    I've accrued a very long list of actual physical sins, so many that it makes no sense to worry about the dream sins.

    I was a werewolf in one dream. I doubt God is going to judge me for slaughtering and eating people as a wolfman.

    But if he does, I got the Jesus card :nod:

    I dunno....I'm the one getting eaten during a dream...never the attacker. Some people must be more assertive.

    Im usually inept but resilient in my dreams. I get attacked, but my attacker doesnt hurt me much, nor can I hurt them- its like Im trying to fight while submerged in jello.

    The werewolf dream was the one exception. I totally slaughtered some folks even though they had machettes.

    One other time my house was being attacked by giant spiders. But I had a shotgun in that dream :)

    Prayers are good works, as are love, kindness and compassion towards others. Anger, malice, hatred, jealousy, envy, covetousness, etc., are bad works. We call them sins. I call them personality limitations, since they negate from one's perfection.

    Yep even just dreaming of homosexual acts is like actually doing them! Just don't die before you can wake up and ask to be forgiven!

    I had lustful sinful thoughts as a teen . Then I read that just having those thoughts was like actually doing the act!

    So I went ahead and had sex with my girl friend since I had already sinned!

    But always asked to be forgiven afterwards. Many times.

    So you are good to go.

    Yeah but your imagination, consciousness creates reality so he exists just like the tree you see exists.

    So atheists get the void at death and Christians live on in heaven a world of perfection and Bliss.

    Might be smart to believe in god and heaven! For you get what you believe exists.

    This is a very fair reality. You get what you believe in!

    Unless oblivion's is desirable. If so go with the atheist beliefs.

    Well my experience is, the more I pray, the less I'm bothered but it takes trust in God and I pray for that :)

    I guess it depends on what kind of bothering he does - or maybe not. He is called the tempter. I know that monks have actual visitations and are sometimes beaten. The truth is though that he can't really harm as long as one prays.

    A better subject is to talk about our guardian angels. Did anyone other than me have experiences?
