I doubt that Israel will last long enough to see its centennial. Like the Christian Crusader-States established by the Europeans in the Crusades, Israel is 1) a European colony 2) a statelet set in an implacably hostile neighborhood, and unwilling to make any accommodation to the hostile civilization that surrounds it 3) sooner or later, hostile Islamist regimes are going to follow Israel's lead and arm themselves with nuclear weapons.

When that happens, there is a great likelihood that the region will see a general nuclear conflagration, along with the destruction of Israel. Ordinarily perhaps Mutually Assured Destruction would prevent this outcome, but the animus between Israel and powers like Iran is not merely ideological (as it was with the Soviets and ourselves); no, it is ideological AND tribalisic, a blood-feud... In this kind of atmosphere of tension, with enemy states in very near geographic proximity, it is a virtual certainty that a signal-error will result in an accidental nuclear exchange. The Judaic presence will once again be swept off the map of the Middle East.
