Homicide and and assault is out of control in Chicago, and homicide and assault plunged in NYC when the NYPD was beefed up, and they started in with aggressive policing tactics.
Democrat politicians hate "Stop and Frisk" and "Broken Windows", because it worked far too well, and it was an embarrassment that aggressive policing miraculously stopped the crime that progressive policies only made worse(see NYC today).

As far as police getting their "after the fact"- that can be eliminated by proactive, rather than reactive, police patrols, and also ShotSpotter-

"Community activists" hate ShotSpotter, because it's one of those snitches they can't give stitches.

They can deny all they want, and they do deny, deny, deny, but the miraculous results of crime plummeting in NYC speak for themselves, while result of a Democrat mayor cancelling, and pulling back, all the aggressive policing policies is speaking loudly, and disastrously right now.

Or don't, and let blacks murder each other in the streets by their hundreds and thousands.

Worked like a charm in NYC. Rikers Island packed to the rafters was a big part of making NYC the safest big city in America. A criminal locked in a cage, is a criminal that's not tearing up the streets of Brooklyn, Queens, etc...

Which requires BIGGER police budgets, and not DEFUND THE POLICE.

The safety net has become a hammock, and childhood obesity is a much bigger problem than the non-existent problem of kids starving in American ghettos.

And yes, New York City is seeing a huge increase in homelessness under the current Democrat mayor. Shocker.

Who's doing all the denial? You are. "Community activists hate ShotSpotter"? Another dubious claim and then you go on....Lock'm up at a average cost of $35k a year in tax money, have police tell people in poverty "aggressively" to get a job, pulling SNAP won't make kids go hungry.

What social program will stop gangs? Plus the left wants to defund the police. And in this climate, I wouldn't want to be a cop and go anywhere near a gangbanger, because if s/he tries to shoot me and I shoot back, then I'm the guy who's in trouble.

Expecting them to act like "regular people" hasn't happened yet and you think it ever will?

It costs on average $35,000 a year to incarcerate, maybe we can spend it more wisely on social services.

Six Weeks, Six Cities, 600 Murders

In only six weeks, city after city operated by entrenched Democrats have seen a massive expansion in lawlessness, violence, and murder. Stunningly, many news outlets seem gobsmacked and mystified at how or why such an explosion of lawlessness has occurred.

New York, murders are up 21%

Los Angeles, June saw disturbing trends. An increase in the month’s first week by 250 percent of homicides, and a 56 percent increase in shootings. Following the death of George Floyd in May the LAPD received a $150 million cut.

Chicago, Year-to-date shootings have eclipsed 1,508 for 2020, putting them 350 ahead of 2019. To date homicides sit at 254, placing them ahead of 2019.

Washington DC, Homicides are up 13%

Philadelphia, Shootings are up 67 percent. Victims of armed violence are up 29 percent. Homicides are up 25 percent. So of course it makes sense to defund the Philadelphia PD by $19 million.

Baltimore, As consistently one of the most dangerous cities in America with a five-year streak of more than 300 murders, last year Baltimore set a new record at 348 homicides. Yet in 2020 they outpace last year’s record and will see defunding to the effect of $22 million

I'm taking back being incredulous about the 35%....good read about history of NYPD start at page 8 and read sections 3&4. It went from disfunction to actually enforcing the law and policing called "Broken Windows". http://johnjay.jjay.cuny.edu/files/White.pdf
