Woke Batgirl is so bad, it won’t be released. 100 million down the toilet.

Maybe the movie sucks because all super hero movies suck.

One more Spidreman movie and I'm getting the Raid.

This genre has been beat to death for far too long

Speaking of Will Smith - Men In Black was a big hit

Character was white in the comics

as was the basis for I am Legend

If a film is good, doesn't matter. If a film sucks like Wild Wild West, it will bomb

    Last Spider-man film was awesome

Some comic films/tv shows are great, some suck - but after years of so little getting past development hell, the more the better

I didn't realize you were only talking about Westerns. He said movies, video games, etc... Westerns are not a genres I watch a lot but wasn't the Magnificent Seven originally with Japanese Samurai. Wasn't the Magnificent Seven also remade recently by Tarantino starring Denzel Washington?

I thought Edward James Olmos has Mexican heritage. Regardless he is not Lorne Greene.

I could never get into the reboot, don't know why

Never missed an ep of the original or the subpar Galactic 80 series

and yes on Tarantino/Magnificent 7 - also had Starlord in it

You should try watching it. I am a Trek fan but still really enjoy Galactica. They are going to be releasing a new series soon based in the Galactica universe.

Never been a big fan of westerns so I never watched Magnificent 7. I did watch a movie call Old Henry and thought it was excellent though.

I recently got Paramount+ - I am up to season 3 of Discovery, have watched all of Picard. I love the streaming world with so many shows to choose from the genres I like

i figured it was about westerns. Almost every iconic western is a rip off of Kurosawa, including many of Clint’s films. Smith tried his best to ruin that film and I’m a fan of his.
BSG was one of the finest pieces of sci fi ever written, and had several episodes done after the series was finished, such as Razor and The Plan. Just so happens it’s probably the one series I’ve watched more than any which is why I have the back story for every character. That said it was a real gamble having Katie play Starbuck, the payoff was brilliant.
Denzel was in that remake but Pratt ruined it for the whole gang.

I don't want to hijack this thread but Discovery is the only Star Trek series I have problems watching. (Maybe Prodigy too), I am still a season behind and can't motivate myself to catch up yet. Picard is good in the sense it is great to see Patrick Stewart in the role again. Also nice to see the other next gen cast but the stories are lacking. The best new Star Trek IMO is Strange New Worlds. The episodic shows gives it that old school trek feel and the casting is awesome. Lower Decks is also great if you want some light hearted Trek.

I have seen some of the old Clint Eastwood classics more because I was a fan of Eastwood than westerns. Unforgiven was an excellent movie. I didn't realize a lot of the old westerns were rip off of Kurosawa. I have only seen the occasional one now and then.

That’s your example? Never even heard of it. Stop acting like it’s Star Wars.

I didn't know the definition of success was that you had to have heard of it. Just because it has received fantastic reviews from both critics and fans, won numerous awards, and even called by some as the best sci-fi show of the century (although the inner Trek fan in me disagrees), you personally have never heard of it so it can't be any good.

BTW If you standard of great is Star Wars then we probably have a lot we can disagree about when it comes to sci-fi.

I agree with you , even though I bailed on it during season 1, the show was popular and was very well reviewed

The last 8 Stars Wars related films as a whole are not great. I bailed on it and did not see the last few. Force Awakens was the only one I saw more than once and that was because of my nostalgia for the older characters

Star Wars was great, until liberal Disney got ahold of it. Again, this example you just gave us is poor. That’s not a household name of anything. 90% or more the population has never even heard of that. Lol

I am in full agreement. Star Wars has a special place in my heart because of fond memories when I was young but the stories are very basic. All of the modern movies and shows have been weak with most highlights being the appearance from the original trilogy members. I will admit that Rogue One was very good and the Vader scene at the end was a masterpiece but I find very little in the prequel movies to rave about. Same with the most recent trilogy from the Force Awakens onwards. Even the Star Wars live action shows are mediocre. The recent Obi Wan was hit and miss and even the big finale battle was ridiculous. The Boba Fett series kind of ruined a favorite character for me and the Mandalorian is OK. Overall the Star Wars franchise has its moments but I would not classify it as great sci-fi.

I doubt 90% of the population know very little about most great sci-fi shows. How many know the Expanse, Babylon 5 or Firefly? Sci-fi is a niche market. If your definition of a successful show is that 90% of the population knows about it than you are simply moving the goal post for your definition of success. Probably 50% of the people don't know the type of detailed differences between Star Wars and Star Trek it doesn't make them a failure. If you told them that that Darth Maul was a Vulcan they would believe you.

It actually started out good but became super woke as did Batwoman. Supergirl had enough momentum to survive, Batwoman was ruined.

You can’t say that, it’s sexist. You mean the Batperson film and it had better have an Afro-American or a trans’ as the leading character.
