https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...egedly-inciting-coronavirus-lockdown-protest/ Here is how free speech works "down under."
You should post the video, it is quite the drama. The victorian government managed to get state of emergency powers extended for another 6 months (when MP's from the greens crossed the aisle) these laws give police draconian powers to come and and... well do this. Welding people into their homes is probably also on the list The rest of us are eternally grateful to police and government for keeping pregnant mothers off the streets
It's some state of affairs when the government is so frightened by the people that a simple protest carries the charge of incitement. Even though large gatherings are generally considered banned during the pandemic shutdown. That can't happen here in the USA because we've made the precedent that protesters have a right to protest against police violence against black people.
Waiting for my PF friends from Down Under to weigh in on this. Shocked that there is Covid-19 in Australia - what with no Trump to muck things up. Shocked I say.
Yeah, we don't have anywhere near the free speech that the US has. Although we must remember, that there is no absolute FREE speech in the US either, even though it's a RIGHT - there are still limitations.
Keep in mind that we have a Constitution including Bill Of Rights, but nobody honors them. Our elected officials do not govern in accordance with those documents, and you can easily see that with the number of illegitimate mask mandates around the country. The Aussies are just as bad as the US when it comes to honoring liberty. At this moment, the only government in the world honoring liberty in that way is Sweden.
Australia hasn't been truly free for a long time now, if they ever were. President Reagan said: "You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness."
This little ditty: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Well, that is how it is being reported by right wing America Meanwhile let us look closer at the facts https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-09-03/coronavirus-lockdown-protest-facebook-arrest/12624318 So lots of discussion about this with even the Police Commissioner wading into the discussion. The Victorian Government is deadly serious about getting the numbers of covid cases down
You DO realise don’t you that she did not remain in handcuffs long? They took them off almost immediately allowed he to change cloths before taking her in to be charged
A general question: Since when is inciting to commit a criminal act by law suddenly ceased to be a criminal act by law too ... and has suddenly something to do with freedom of speech?
There's nothing peaceful about trying to burn down a church (Lafayette Park) and trying to destroy federal buildings (Portland.)
We love busting down doors and arresting 'good citizens' here! . (or perhaps we're not going to let one individual significantly participate in ruining the good work of several million people)
