It is a different type of rape, if you choose to classify it as rape.

The marriage can very oftentimes be successful if it is the man who is not having sex with the woman. You'll be harder pressed to find cases of long-term successful marriage when it is the woman who is the one not putting out.

There is often an inherent trade-off between freedom and commitment.

If you refuse to give up any freedoms, there is a very high probability that your marriage will not last.

I know the French idea of marriage is that you can have an affair on the side (liaison). That is a little bit different, and may not necessarily be applicable to other countries.

As I have explained to you, in many cases, if the wife had to choose, she might prefer her husband have sex with her, even though she does not want it, than for him to have sex with another woman outside the marriage. Well certainly the latter is more likely to lead to an end to the marriage than the former.

Where a woman is most likely to feel raped is if her husband does both.

Forced sex between married couples. Still = rape, if a party (woman) doesn't consent. What is different between married or not? A marriage certificate to state otherwise. Forced sex = rape. non consensual sex = rape married or not. How does the law see it?

    That speaks volumes.
Perhaps men get married for the wrong reasons, as you have amply shown.

There is no trade off between freedom and commitment if you are married to the right person. Unless you don't talk to each other.
Your belief in the French cultural myth is regrettable.
    I don't debate "might" s.
AFAIAC I consider secrecy and lies far more important than sex with someone else.
That you keep coming back to this is indicative to me that your primary reasons for marriage are misguided.

    I agree with the above.

What I think the more interesting question is, is of she isn't willing to have sex with him anymore, does that make it ok for him to have sex with other women outside the marriage?
