Most of them are just an excuse to keep Eddie Butler well away from anything to do with commentating on rugby, and as such they are efforts that should be resoundingly applauded!

I will be supporting the Irish, not the semi-european Welsh!

Then I'll cheer for France, hoping to avenge Scotland:mrgreen:

Ach, well done Wales! You've been the better team.

    What a shame! :)

Well done to France - see you in the semi-final!

That's the world cup semi final....you know, the one that will be happening once England have caught the plane home.

Shame about Ireland, though - at the moment I think they could have beaten either England or France, but Wales were just too strong for them on the day.

Whatever happens now (and I think we go into the semi with at least an even chance of getting through, on the form of both teams so far this tournament), it looks good for the future of Welsh rugby - so many of those players are youngsters (the oldest of today's 3 back row forwards is 23!).

Haha. That will teach the OP for forgetting to mention Wales, a semi-finalist no less!

Wales vs Ireland was the first game I've watched in its entirety, and I was positively impressed. I don't know much about rugby but the Welsh look very strong, big and tall! The semi final against France should be interesting.

I might watch SA vs Oz meanwhile:)

Australia Vs New Zealand in the Semi's. It feels like the final came a week early.

It might feel it, but I'm not so sure that feeling would be correct for this tournament. If you look at the team statistics, on 'total points scored' and 'average points per game' in the tournament, NZ are first, Wales are second. On 'tries scored' and 'average tries per game', Wales are joint second with Australia (with Wales ahead of Australia on both Conversions and Penalties). On 'winning margin for a single game', the top one is South Africa, followed by NZ, followed by Wales in 3rd AND 4th, and with NZ in 5th (and Australia only in 7th and 10th).

I know it feels wierd (it does equally to me!), but statistically the top 2 teams of the tournament so far would seem to me to be the All Blacks and Wales, so at the moment it would be difficult to argue against those being the right two teams to end up in the final.

The game isn't played on paper, though, so who will end up there is another matter, obviously! To be honest, the All Blacks looked a bit lost without Carter, and Australia haven't been exactly impressive either. They lost to Ireland, and only scraped pretty unconvincingly past a South Africa team that just failed to take the opportunities they made (even though they looked to be the better side for much of the game). My feeling is that NZ can beat Australia, and that Wales, on current form, can beat France (although the 'which France?' question will always be a factor to consider, and they can never be underestimated). We will just have to wait and see, though.

One nice thought is that if we win, we can get rid of Mrs Windsor's terribly English son and have Gatland for King. I must say that I am hugely hopeful.

Replace one foreigner with another, or would giving him 'honorary Welshman' status be enough? I suggest we should just take it as a figurative sign from on high, and award the title to Gareth Edwards instead - it's more or less his anyway!
