U.S. inflation hit a 40 year high in November, cementing high and rising inflation as the hallmark of the first year of Joe Biden’s presidency.

The Labor Department said the consumer-price index—which tracks what consumers pay for goods and services—rose in November by 6.8 percent from a year ago. That was the fastest 12-month pace since 1982 and the sixth straight month of inflation above 5 percent.

The problem here is that while my own stocks are also doing well, I'm not so sure the hoi polloi are really feeling glad about it. I mean yeah, I can afford the rise in gas prices and heating and suchlike, but I don't see the poor doing as well. And I see them quite often both at school and at the local homeless shelter I do drives for. I guess what I'm trying to say is that there's real suffering out there because of inflation and the people that can afford the rising prices the least are being hit hardest by it - and without that nice feeling about their 401k.

 

The only reason inflation wasn't worse in November is due to European, Oceania, and American governments announcing the discovery a new variant that would force more Covid restrictions, shutdowns, and travel bans. Some claimed the new variant mutated in an HIV patient. Every investor over the last week has come to the conclusion that the Biden Administration, along with Chinese and European governments, is attempting to manipulate the price of oil and natural gas. The recent strategies (releasing reserves and Omicron fear-mongering) may have sent shockwaves through the markets, but there was no meaningful drop in prices, and oil prices at the pump have restarted the upwards trend. Democrats are also trying to scare people into staying home for Christmas instead of sharing the holiday with family. I'm in the same boat economically. Homeless shelters have already run out of food near me. Even people in college are worried about food, housing, and gas prices. Since the Summer people have been hearing the same BS from this Administration about inflation settling down, but it's economically impossible unless there's a pullback of economic activity. You see the Covid approval numbers falling for Democrats cause everyone is wise to the game. People ask me if I think food prices are going to drop, and my answer is the same as it was when Biden was hoaxing the American public about "transitory inflation". No. It will only get worse. Everyone rightfully blames Biden which is why the A pollsters have his approvals are in the low 40s and disapprovals anywhere from 50-58 percent. I thought his bottom would be 40%, but now I think it can drop to 35%.

 

If you have assets, inflation isn’t a big deal. If you don’t, then you are going to suffer. Wages trail inflation. it is what it is.
