I've seen some so-called ' comedy stars ' who deserve ten years with hard labor.

I told you so. Egypt is going Islamist on a full tilt boogie basis. Egypt is being Saudified.

Color me not surprised. Mubarek was a moderate who kept these crazies under control and without him Egypt is turning into an Islamofascist state. Anyone who values their freedom better high-tail it out of there.

If it was anyone but you, I would assume you were joking.

Egyptians are going to have to go through their "Lenny Bruce" period just like the USA did in the 1960's, where comedians are arrested for "crossing the line of decency".

Maybe so, maybe no. Even if you are right Egypt's dark age will last for several generations.

Well some people wouldn't think of this as a non issue. They argue more "relaxed" nations are dangerous for Egyptians since allowing jokes which denigrate Muslims cultivates an atmosphere of hatred which may influence mentally ill people like Breivik to kill Muslims or as in his case, potential future pro Muslim politicians.

I don't recall our laws specifically defending a religion.

Are you in 'private' accommodation or with the general population?

For some of the countries, maybe.

But many of the countries are moving very fast, certainly as fast as the USA in the 20's through 1970's, where we went from women being unable to even own property in many places and not being able to vote, minorities being legally oppressed and no legal divorce, women were OK to be raped if they showed some calf, and children were fair game for sexual use. Gays didn't exist.

But still, in the 1960s, police sat in nightclubs to arrest Lenny Bruce for saying cuss words that offended our "Christian decency".
