To me this is a no brainer, PS4 all the way. I am not thrilled with Microsoft charging a USED GAME FEE which is the price of the game brand new. So no more taking your game to a friends house, unless you use your profile. No more letting a friend borrow a game unless you trust him to use your profile. And the always online rumor is partially true, the console will require an internet connection once every 24 hours or the single player game deactivate. Those two restrictions right there alone disqualify an xbox purchase. I am also not keen on forced Kinect. Which will only increase the price of the system. I don't care about voice activation or watching TV and surfing the internet at the same time. I don't care about integrated cable box features (basically they want this to replace the cable box), And of course the hardware is less powerful than the PS4. Also another thing that bugs me is the "illumniroom" technology. which supposedly uses the Kinect camera to track how many people are in the room and would require you to purchase "multi-user licenses" to watch movies. Granted this is not currently planned to be in the XBox One at release but could be implemented. Take it for what it is right now. And getting back to the "always online" feature yes its only partially true, however developers will have the option to use MS cloud servers to handle certain computations, this would REQUIRE you to always be online even during an offline game. Sony has confirmed the PS4 will NOT be "always online" and though nothing has been said as of yet, I doubt they will charge a fee for used game. Jack Tretton Sony of America president at least confirmed "The PS4 will not block used games". And of course the biggest thing for me is GAMES GAMES GAMES! Something Sony has stated the PS4 is first and foremost, a game console. What are your opinions on the new consoles? http://kotaku.com/you-will-be-able-to-trade-xbox-one-games-online-micros-509140825 - About used games. http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-does-require-internet-connection-cant-play-o-509164109 - about always online.
I've been loyal to PlayStation since the first PS. The new XBOX sounds like a POS. The camera-tracking is just plain creepy.
Sounds like XBOX is trying to do waaaaay too much with this new system. PS4 is probably going to crush them.
It's all about piracy prevention. But it's pretty excessive it sounds like. What they should do is emulate the Spotify method if they want to combat piracy. (Spotify's a free music service funded by ads). They should start releasing full downloadable games for free, however the games would be interspaced with ads. People who want to play the games ad-free could pay for a premium membership.
Take it for what it is...The article is a little old but this could possible be some cause for concern. http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/1...goes-big-brother-will-spy-on-you-for-the-mpaa
I agree....This is much like "gun control" which as a liberal democrat I am against....It only serves to hinder those who actually paid for the game. Consoles and PC games are supposed to be a different animal. The whole point of a console is to be free of the PC DRM. I myself am a PS3 and PC gamer....I built my gaming rig with top of line components intel 3930k GTX 680 watercooled 16 GB GDD5 ram 1TB 10k RPM HDD plus another 1tb 7200 RPM HDD (my old one). THis was quite expensive but its a hobby of mine so i dont mind. I like console because some of the game are different, whats the point now of buying an Xbox One when you can get better results on a factory made PC these days? At least the PS4 is aiming to be a gaming machine with their own unique features, not a glorified cable box. Maybe I'm bias but I've always been a Playstation guy. Saw right through the atrocity that is the Xbox 360. Today's reveal just ensured I will continue being a Playstation gamer.
Ya, Microsoft is making me nervous. Having to have an internet connection so I can authenticate before I am allowed to play a single player game would be a deal breaker for me. But still way too much speculation out there, suspect all will become clear at E3.
I agree, what in the hell was MS thinking with this new console? I guess they did not learn from Sony's arrogance with the PS3.
The always connected requirement by XBox is relatively new. Blizzard Entertainment did with Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. For Diablo, you HAVE to be online to play - no single player (except PS4 I think). The new SimCity has that requirement too. that you have to be online 24/7. Seriously? For Sim City I am not a big console guy but I'm sure these new rules will deter casual players, and leave only devoted fans buying these consoles. Consoles are going the way of the dinosaur, no matter how much 'social interaction' they put in their systems.
PS4 all the way. I was an xbox fan in the earlier years of the 360, specifically 2005-2011. Two years ago my dad bought me a PS3, and I've hardly touched the 360 since then.
Wow in the worldwide twitter war (I don't use twitter) the PS4 is destroying the Xbox One 89% - 11% http://www.gamespot.com/twitter-battle/xbox-vs-ps4/
Ya I saw that. But not sure it will mater as us hardcore gamers are no longer their target audience. Time for me to go back to PS after a long break from Sony.
I'm not big on Microsoft and they kind of pissed me off with their whole lack of quality control for the 360 but I would hold off on jumping to any conclusions as far as rumors go. You never know what's true or taken out of context. For me though I'm a newly minted PS3 owner and I'm enjoying that more then I ever had my 360. This is the first time I have ever been able to go online with my gaming system and while yes, I get my ass handed to me quite a bit when playing with others, I really enjoy it. My best friend(whom I love like a brother)and I can actually play games together now. As far as being a fanboy for either Microsoft or Sony well that always seemed kind of stupid to me. Like I said in another thread it's about what you prefer and although I'm going to wait I'm leaning towards Sony on the simple fact that they don't put out defective crap the way Microsoft does. That alone is what makes me want to continue to do business with them.
