Anyone else waiting for this game to be released in early/middish October? It's a remake of the 1993 game UFO Enemy Unknown/XCOM UFO Defense which is my favourite game of all time.
It looks awesome i just hope it doesn't suffer from the same flaws as civ. I really want the AI to pose a threat rather then cheap handicaps. Hopefully modders will fix the game's short comings.
Looks like a game for losers if you ask me - sure graphics are incredible but I bet that's all it's got going for it - probably another one of those "time waster" games where most of the actual "game" just consists of repetitive, unstimulating tasks with little/no actual challenge - a la Skyrim, Grand Theft Auto, etc - the current generation of games which probably have less actual "game" in 100 hours of play time than you could get in 30 minutes of a classic arcade-style game. I'm not kidding when I said that 1995 arcade game looks better, I really and truly meant that. If I ever can, I'll see if I can pick up a copy of Twin Cobra II - only ever played the original, that sequel looks and sounds bad-ass.
I used to play Age of Empries II when I was young, I wish I had all that time I wasted on it back. Only decent strategy game out there is Command and Conquer Generals, since you don't have to spend 5+ hours just to complete a single match. Most of these games are just time wasters more than anything else. Most of em aren't even that "deep" or "strategic" so much as just repetitive - you already figure out the strategy for winning, then you have to spend another 3-4 hours just issuing commands to all your "units". Kind of like solving a puzzle, but then once you've solved it you're forced to spend 5 hours just putting all the pieces together. Not my idea of fun or stimulation.
And it was (*)(*)(*)(*)ing horrible... Really don't know if I want to buy it now also saw an hour long video of two missions it was okay but it seemed really easy.
Because it was set to the easiest difficulty to not scare lame people away. You can edit the config file and make it hard. You'll get wiped out in the second mission in 2 turns.
Apparently the PC is getting a console port meaning it's gonna suck compared to newer games since the consoles are so old now.
So instead they tried to bore them. I was pretty dumbfounded when i was done. It took 15 minutes and was over 5 gigs. Nope the next time on 3.0 I only lost the machine gun guy the sectoids were pretty easy and I grenade spammed the thin men. The floaters were the only hard part. I may still get it though... Idk
That's an opinion. I think it looks like ubisoft's other half baked releases. The only thing I'm looking forward to is arma 3 and zone of the enders hd.
Why would anyone want to play a game where you have to know how to edit the game's code just to turn up the difficulty? They can't even be bothered to include a difficulty setting in the game itself??
In the real game though it's apparently bad to use explosives unless you really have to. Blown up things can't be researched it seems.
