You need better sources of information. The President's Executive Order curtails the protections afforded to interactive computer services under section 230 of the Communication Decency Act. That section allowed Interactive computer services to remove material that they found to be harmful or offensive as long as these services were acting in good faith. That is not what Twitter did to the President. They added tweets in response to a tweet that the President made. The topic was about mail in voting. Twitter tried to fact check the President's tweet by linking unrelated posts in support of Absentee voting. They are two separate subjects. In this case, Twitter was moderating political speech. Not offensive, or criminal speech as the Communication Decency Act was intended for. It is questionable whether section 230 would have protected Twitter. They were not attacking offensive or criminal material. They also were not acting in good faith. This is because they tried to convoluting the issue by linking it to a different issue.

If you are implying Congress's impeachment of Trump was equivalent to convicting someone shoplifting a pack of gum, well..........

That is a textbook example of the 'strawman argument'.

Moreover, Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstructing Congress. Both are substantially greater in scope, weight, impact, etc., than shoplifting a piece of gum which is why your sig is a strawman.

It isn’t a violation of free speech to add fact check links to a tweet that is nothing but a conspiracy theory with no substance behind it. Threatening the move with an executive order, as Trump has done, isn’t just showing how Trump would like to turn our govt into a authoritarian mess, it’s another reminder that Trump doesn’t have any regard for the checks and valences in our country.

Honestly, Twitter should have started doing this with Donald a long time ago, even before the presidency. They should have started with the nonsense that Obama was born in Kenya without evidence that became birtherism and gave Trump his political rise. Maybe Donald will think twice about spreading mindless gibberish.
