I guess if you're a strong independent woman freely voicing your own opinion and that isn't the opinion, you're supposed to have. I guess you need to be put back in your place. I'm talking about Gina Carano. She didn't really do anything wrong. Why all the hate ?
She wasn't silenced. She can still say what she wants to say. Disney disagreed with those statements and parted ways. Unless you want to FORCE Disney to employ someone, then what's the problem. Freedom of speech does not guarantee freedom from repercussions of said speech. She made a choice. It was a bad career choice.
There really shouldn't be anything controversial with her statement. I guess anything nuanced is above people's heads these days.
Her statement although less than ideal, it isn't controversial or something to be fired for. What doesn't sit right is her co star has made similar a comparisons in the past and there hasn't been any reprocusion for him. Why can the male actor post equally stupid comparisons on social media yet Gina is dropped for it? It just doesn't seem like equality to me ?
You don't know the backstory - Gina could have been problematic in other ways, and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak - while the male actor may have only had one strike against him. You simply don't know the whole story.
And you're assuming that it was only this one statement that led to her termination at Disney. You don't know if it was a pattern of disruptive behavior - did she have problems with the director, the actors - and this was the final straw. It's deceptive to assume so much from so little information.
This sounds a lot like victim blaming. That said I do agree we do need to see the whole story to know exactly if her being dropped was justified or not. From what I've seen I don't think her actions justify he being fired. Although I will be the first to admit if clear evidence becomes apparent that supports Disney's actions. Seems you know more than myself what went on regarding the backstory that justifies her being fired. Those links would be really interesting to read, thank you. All I've been able to fine is some of her previous social media activity.
