Have you ever wondered why illegal mexicans stay in Texas? Besides the lack of money of course.

Yea, the one red state that happens to have access to the one commodity that the entire world needs. What a coincidence.

They probably would... just like the Mexican's lining up to get to cities like El Paso or Albuquerque. It's funny how the blue states make all the money and the red states take all the money. You have one exception and that is Texas, and luckily Texas has all that black gold to help it out.

    Great answer, and I agree.

The problem is that - since the Civil War - that which constitutes Federal Power has been greatly expanded...beyond which is healthy, and the result of which has been a monolithic nation which cannot help but become increasingly polarized.

All we have to do is weaken Federal Government by shrinking it aggressively and radically, and give powers that the States should already have back to the States.

Things like Federal money kickbacks to States - and politicians who angle for their share for their districts - should be completely eradicated.

Then what the OP wishes would be accomplished, without having to fracture the Union officially.

I am looking forward to EU becoming USE. It might help USA. And could counterbalance SEA and UAA.

In truth, there really aren't red states and blue states as much as there are red areas and blue areas.

For example, Chicago is pretty dark blue. The rest of Illinois is rather red.

The same is true for my state. Charlotte and Raleigh are blue, but most of the rest of the state is red.

You'd have to transform the country into hundreds of principalities to really separate people by political leanings.

I'm down. Red state, blue state, either way it will just be different brands of authoritarianism. Just make Florida a libertarian state and let the dunderheads fight over the rest and I'll be a happy man.

Whoa, there buddy! These people don't care about those salient facts. Don't you know that there is regional bigotry that must be sh4t all over the forum?

That's a ridiculous idea. Just alone from the security standpoint its not feasible.

Red people and Blue people should ride separate buses.

It would be OK with me if the freeloading red states left the union.

The misplaced anger in the red states is not so much that they want independence from the federal government but that they are so dependent on it. They somehow believe that biting the hand that feeds them is a rational position. Unfortunately for them, leaving the union may free them from the largess of the federal government but will not free them from the bankers in New York City. The southern planters thought so in 1860. Things have not changed as much as people think.

It's common knowledge for most political junkies, but if you are new to the scene here is a good article about the fact that red states receive more money from the federal government than they pay in taxes to it, and blue states pay more to the federal government than they receive from it, ON AVERAGE. http://www.slate.com/articles/healt...10/12/smart_republicans_stupid_democrats.html.

If you don't like that article, do some Google searching yourself and you'll find the same thing. It's an established finding. It's called a paradox because of the rhetoric right-wing politicians use, but their states are usually heavier beneficiaries when it comes to federal spending.

Yah right. That Demographic is changing fast.

Most foreign investment is going to Red States.

Most jobs are being created in Red States.

Union extortion and unethical and outrageous wage and benefit demands and infrastructure requirements don't hold back expansion and business development in Red States.

Blues states are on their way to Detroit Status within a decade or two.

Enjoy living in Detroit-like conditions liberal.
