The timing? The only timing issue here is pointy-headed liberal cretins bringing up something from a year ago. He's right, FEMA should get the axe and localized. You liberals, you just can't imagine a central government controlling every aspect of our lives, can you?
So... they just came out and reaffirmed their position on FEMA this morning with no one asking them???? I find that extremely difficult to believe, as would anyone who thinks for themselves.
That most certifiably is not an allegation I made. Clearly it is a current event for a couple of reasons. The first is Romney is running for president and there is a large storm tha5t is expected to do damage requiring FEMA relief. Romney in the past has said he wishes to cut FEMA and turn it over to the states. Certainly here is a situation where his words are put to the test. Second, the Romney campaign today, as in the current day, made a comment about Romney's words, which makes it current and relevant to a political discussion forum.
So then I was correct. The only timing issue here is that liberals decided to bring up an issue he spoke about a year ago. Thanks. And of course anything any candidate says is fair game any time and anywhere. You'll get no argument from me on that.
In every hurricane I have ever been through it is the local and state agency's that provide the relief and know what they are doing. The governors of the several states work together as do utilities and Red Cross and other relief agencies. He was a governor he knows how disasters work and who can best handle them.
Gov. Romney wants to ensure states, who are the first responders and are in the best position to aid impacted individuals and communities, have the resources and assistance they need to cope with natural disasters, the campaign said. More misleading by you.....
Reminds me of Governor Perry axing firefighting funds from his state, and then asking the Feds to come it when his state caught on fire. If Romney gets elected, there won't be Federal Government with a capability to come to the rescue.
Adding a level of bureaucracy never makes anything more efficient. During Katrina the Arizona National Guard waited just outside the region for 6 days before they received authorized from FEMA to go in to help with the rescue and cleanup. It is helpful to have a department on the national level to coordinate the response when multiple states are involved. But most of the assistance comes from the states so the federal department should be much smaller than the bloated FEMA that exists now.
Which is fine on a local level, but clearly it makes more sense on a multi state level to have one agency.
And just how in the hell is Romney going to "ensure" that? Let me guess, just another one of those "mysteries" we just have to accept on faith. Supporting Romney has got to be like believing in a religion. You just have to accept the "mysteries" and believe on faith. And not coicidentally.
I am not sure what is misleading. Clearly I supported my contentions and explained the reasoning behind my opinion.
From Romney's campaign... Gov. Romney wants to ensure states, who are the first responders and are in the best position to aid impacted individuals and communities, have the resources and assistance they need to cope with natural disasters, the campaign said. Read more: http://www.care2.com/causes/axe-fema-romney-says-as-sandy-looms.html#ixzz2AiLLUTrW Makes sense. States are in the best position to quickly get aid to disaster areas within their borders. It is better for the federal government provide assistance instead of taking over disaster operations.
And just how in the hell is Romney going to "ensure" that? Let me guess, just another one of those "mysteries" we just have to accept on faith. Supporting Romney has got to be like believing in a religion. You just have to accept the "mysteries" and believe on faith. And not coincidentally.
Things would be better if America had any money... obama and pals have declared a constant welfare emergency for the past 4 years.... Now that we're completely broke leftys are crying??? **** and get a job. Its time to become part of the solution, instead of a drain on society.
You have taken 4 years of hope and change aka faith in the messiah and you want to speak about someone else?
It's a concept of State focused Federal government policies instead of filtering the tax dollars through a federal 'program' that will surely send a large percentage of that monetary aid into the Washington 'black hole.' More, better and quicker disaster aid can be provided if locally administered. Here is a simple example for the simple-minded libs....Would you rather have your employer pay you directly for your labor or would you rather have your employer send your check to a 3rd party that will take a % for 'processing?'
You know what, that works for me in NJ. Even though the current storm is here we don't get natural disasters much. Florida and Mississippi and Louisiana your own your own next hurricane!!
America has lots of money. It's just been redistributed to the offshore bank accounts of the 1%. Vote Romney to ensure even more goes there.
I get the "concept." What I want to know is Romney going to "ensure" that states have the facilities to deal with national disasters?
