Uh yeah, fox journalism is exactly about making things up. This is a political game in advance of an election. Ask Rivera. Besides your credibility is in doubt with your whining about liberal sites on the internet.

Really? Then why did the USAF use them in Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya?

You'll notice that the admin did not use your excuse. They claimed to not have targets, ect. despite having a drone in the area. The "looking through a straw" line is complete BS.

We have a naval air station on Sicily. The admin has not said that they had no F-18's there. They may be covering that up. Because of the proximity.

Where were the carriers? The admin has not said that Benghazi was out of carrier range either. That's part of the problem of the cover-up. They are sitting on the facts because of the election. Even the Washington Post has admitted that the admin is running out the clock.

Uh, right when was the last time you commanded a ground support operation? Yes never, being an internet warrior. How about we just leave your pronouncements of expertise and focus on testimony we can both see and read m'kay?

Concerning lazers in Benghazis..

The military is preparing a timeline from the night of the Benghazi attack and plans to outline what assets were available to commanders in the region, including AFRICOM commander General Carter Ham, who was visiting Washington, DC on September 11 and was in the Pentagon overseeing the operation that night.

Pentagon spokesman George Little says, “On the night of the attack on American personnel and facilities in Benghazi, there were no armed unmanned aerial vehicles over Libya, and there were no AC-130s anywhere close.”

On Thursday, the CIA excluded Fox News from a briefing for a small group of reporters in which they provided a timeline from the night of the attack in which they explain that at 5:15 a.m. (7 hrs and 28 minutes after the attack on the consulate began) five mortars are fired at the annex, three of them striking the roof and killing Woods and Doherty.

The CIA told the Washington Post’s David Ignatius that “the rooftop defenders never ‘laser the mortars’ as has been reported,” a reference to an earlier Fox News report. The CIA added the “defenders have focused their laser sights earlier on several Libyan attackers, as warnings not to fire.”

3,026 total dead in Afghanistan. Under President Bush the death toll in Afghanistan didn't go over 20 per month until the middle of 2005 and didn't go over 40 per month until the middle of2008 and never went over 60 per month.

Under BH Obama the death toll has remained above20 per month and reach over 100 in the middle of2010 and has gone over 60 per month ten times and over 40 deaths per month 22 times. A quick glance tells even an idiot who has lost the most troops in Afghanistan.

Uh yeah its the difference between planned operations that are set up over weeks, and operations that are scrambled in a few hours.

Having actually been in combat with close air support from jet fighter aircraft I would uncategorically state that without laser-guided munitions they are completely worthless. Traveling at over 500 mph and attacking from nearly 1/2 mile away (i.e. never below several thousand feet in altitude) they simply can't see a target as small as individuals that are attacking from hidden positions. Additionally their time on station is too short to provide realistic support to forces on the ground. An A-10 or Apache. both of which can have a long time on target as well as the ability to get low and slow, can provide close air support to ground forces but not an F-16. Close air ground support was never a mission capability of an F-16.

President Obama withheld this type of support from Americans under enemy fire to protect his foreign policy and reelection hopes. Remember this at the polls on Tuesday.

Really? What's the difference as far as range goes? Drop tanks and aerial refueling have NOT be cited as reasons for withholding air support by the admin.

We also do not know about naval air power in the area. The admin is stonewalling.

You don't have a clue what you are talking about. I've posted a few more videos.

Then there is this:

F-16 Fighting Falcon close air support

U.S. Marines pinned down by an insurgent sniper, mark his location with a smoke and called for close air support. An F-16 from the 192nd Fighter Wing of the Virginia Air National guard deals to him.

I'll now explain what a radio is in Obama debate fashion:

"A radio is a box that talks to you. You then press the button and talk to someone else through their box."

I was a US Army Cavalry Scout. I was trained to call in air support and artillery fire. You?

That's hard to do when the Obama admin is stonewalling, lying, and covering-up what happened.

Who in the hell do you think would really know were these two men aimed their lasers?????????????? I might just be the two dead men.? The CIA is telling a lie that can't be refuted because the people who know what they did are dead.

The lies in this case are so twisted that it has taken the CIA, FBI, Pentagon and Valerie Jarrett a month to get it all arranged.

No Don youre an internet warrior, ie nothing you say can be backed up, you do have skill on posting stupid videos of air strikes though.

Its not hard, just look at the various reports from the LA times, the NYT and the WP. Thats detailed stuff. The fact is Don, you take every opportunity on this forum to (*)(*)(*)(*) the Obama admin on everything, this stuff is just another example.

Once agian this fails to address the real problem. F-16's traveling over 1000 miles, having to refuel just to arrive on target, will only have a few minutes of "time on station" which probably wouldn't correspond to the time when enemy positions were identifiable. There is a fundamental difference between aircraft that are located close by and those that have to travel over 1000 miles to simply reach a potential target. The orders for the F-16's and arial tankers to deploy would have had to come when there was no indicated threat to the annex which didn't occur until a couple of hours after the attack on the consulate. The arial tankers would have to deploy well in advance of the F-16's and we can assume that even if ordered with the consolate was attacked it would have been two to three hours before the F-16's arrived on station. The time on station for the F-16's would probably have been about 15 minutes before they had to depart. Highly unlikely that a target would have been identified during that 15 minute time span.

Additionally, the annex from what I've read was considered to be a "secret annex" so it's location wasn't assumed to have been known by the terrorists.

The decision to not deploy the F-16's was made by our military commanders and it was the correct decision at the time. As noted the F-16 wasn't even designed as a ground attack aircraft and has very limited air-to-ground capabilities. It has, on rare occasions, provided close air-to-ground support but that is not it's primary role. Had the F-16's been deployed there is a very slim chance that they would have had a single opportunity to actual do something but with the first pass all of the terrorists would have quickly dispersed and simply waited for the F-16's to depart.

So many things would have to magically syncronize for the F-16's to have been able to do anything it just doesn't make military sense to deploy them. The mission would have had virtually no chance of success in accomplishing anything and other aircraft were deployed to the scene to gather intelligence which was the correct thing to do from a military standpoint. The military commanders made the correct decision and a bunch of armchair "generals" here at Political Forum that are trying to second-guess that decision merely reflect ignorance as to the situation and the lack of suitability of the deployment of the F-16's which were the wrong type of aircraft and located way too far away from the actual combat location.

My point

I thought that you were serious until you started equating facts with reports in the LA times, the NYT and the WP. Sad but funny.

Earlier I wrote, "It is a lie.

Within about two hours we could have had close air support over Benghazi. There were high performance aircraft and possibly an AC-130U available.
Within about two hours we could have had armed Predators over Benghazi. They patrol over the chemical warfare sites in Libya and could have been diverted.
Within about two hours we could have had American boots on the ground to secure the Consulate, the CIA Annex and other important sites in Benghazi.
We know we have allies in the region. Did we ask the Italians for assistance? How about the Turks?"

To which you replied,

For whatever reason you prefer to believe the president's lies and cover-up. The truth is going to be revealed.

Friendly forces in the region:
US:
Aviano, south of the Alps in Italy, is the region's only U.S. air base with aircraft assigned to it -- 42 F-16s. The Pentagon has not discussed the positioning of other planes in the region. The United States has a range of Mediterranean military bases and installations in Italy, Greece, and Spain.

Sixth Fleet, headquarterd on its command ship USS MOUNT WHITNEY (LCC 20), consists of approximately 40 ships, 175 aircraft and 21,000 people. The Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean is the major operational component of Naval Forces Europe. The principal striking power of the Sixth Fleet resides in its aircraft carriers and the modern jet aircraft, its submarines, and its reinforced battalion of US Marines on board amphibious ships deployed in the Mediterranean.

Canada:
One Canadian tanker aircraft is stationed at Decimomannu airbase in Sardinia, Italy

Italy:
Italy has dozens of combat aircraft at its base at Trapani, in western Sicily in readiness for possible involvement in air strikes on Libya.

Tornado fighters that can be used to destroy enemy air defenses and radar
F-16s and Eurofighters used for air-to-air defense have been moved to Trapani

Seven bases in Italy -- at Amendola, Gioia del Colle, Sigonella, Aviano, Trapani, Decimomannu and Pantelleria

Five are on the southern mainland or Sicily, making them some of the closest available bases to Libya.

NATO:
Since June 2007, NATO has assisted the AU Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) by providing airlift support for AU peacekeepers. Following renewed AU requests, the North Atlantic Council has agreed to extend its support by periods of six months and has done this on several occasions. NATO also continues to work with the AU in identifying further areas where NATO could support the African Standby Force.

This is from a 20 minute Google search. Had the experts been called upon in mid-to-late August after Ambassador Stevens sent the SECRET cable to Secretary of State Clinton they should have been able to identify a range of capabilities and options including the most obvious one, to use American military forces to protect the consulate.

I have already mentioned the Predators used to monitor the chemical weapons sites in Libya. One or more armed Predators could have been diverted and arrived within two hours. We already know an unarmed predator arrived near the beginning of the assault on the Consulate.

The more we look the less the regime's lies stand up to our scrutiny.

I've already shown you that the Obama used the same F-16's over Libya. They didn't send them for a 15 minute trip either. If Obama wanted the CIA to have fighter jet air support, then they would have had it.

The truth is that he didn't want air strikes. I just wish that he were man enough to stop the stonewalling and make his case before the American people. The CIA and former SEALs in Benghazi were heroes, and Obama is a craven.

Do you believe the fighter has to return to its base of origin?

So the F-16s travel whatever the actual distance is fire at whatever targets are available when they arrive 1-2 hours after they have been told to go, they hang around looking for trouble and then fly back to the closest allied air base. They do not need to drop 1,000lb bombs. They can use their 20mm cannon against heavy machine guns and mortar crews. Most importantly they add an element of fear, uncertainty and doubt in the minds of the attackers.

It is likely that an aerial refueling tanker could have met them over the Med and gave them additional time over target.

I will let my Air Force brothers decide if that is true. If they went to high altitude and went fast they could have arrived in less than two hours after takeoff.

Maybe. Maybe not. It is certainly true that if the president abandons you that there will be no air support to engage any targets.

Your words are soft and squishy. What is a "large area"? When they were dropped "danger close" to friendly forces some were dropped about 50 meters away. It is certainly not a round one would want to drop in a friendly neighborhood.

The 20mm cannon with its 500 rounds might have been just the thing to add a little levity to the Islamist's somber assault.

I believe your assumption is incorrect. One F-16 may have had on-station time of 15 minutes. i have heard there is more than one stationed in Italy. Let the first two fly with whatever they carry on strip alert. Put the next two up twenty minutes later with better munitions. Then two more in a half hour. Ask for NATO tanker support.

Given the SECRET cable from Ambassador Stevens to Hillary Clinton three weeks earlier why do you consider this to be a possibility? You are in error. This late in the narrative I assume you are lying.

I have ready varying accounts. The least amount of time was from around ten PM to around 4 AM Benghazi Massacre Time. That is six hours. Other accounts added some additional time on the end of the fight for a total time of about 8 hours.

All wars are "Come as you are."

I certainly hope you do not hold a responsible job.

Earlier I wrote, "
The only large bomb droppings are coming from the Washington politicians. Have you seen drone camera footage? How is it that we can manage to kill people on Obama's hit list in Pakistan but not in Libya? Do you believe that we would need to drop large bombs to break up an attack of roughly 20 men (that is what was reported - I believe the total force was likely to be between 100 and 150 men)?

How about a small amount of cannon fire? Or for that matter one or two of the smallest JDAM? I believe they come in sizes as small as 250 pounds."

To which you replied,

I suppose when denial is the only tool you have you use it.

The F-16 carries 500 rounds. That should about do it for a truck mounted heavy machine gun or two.

Given that you so easily discount my twenty years of commissioned officer time how much time in the Army do you consider to be the minimum before you give credit for "on the job" time?

Except for those whose heads have been stuck so far up the president's posterior they can only see out when he opens his mouth anyone can gain a good grasp of the essential facts.

I think you might be such a beast yourself. You certainly are enamoured of the word.
Given my twenty years of military intelligence Army time just what would it take in your mind for anyone to "have the experience?"

It is easy to contradict the lies the regime has been pushing. It requires a bit of patience and some thought. Have you ever thought about trying a small amount of thinking for yourself? Once you get used to it and it no longer frightens you I think you might learn to like it.
