I'm an observer who've also actually been to/visited Syria. made friends / been invited to their homes . Same when visiting the surrounding region, in better days, and not reliant on Western media .

I'm afraid , your faith in the "Ballot box " is not always what you might believe it toi be i.e. it largely depends on which political party can raise the largest election campaign war chest to spend on conning/fooling the most gullible electorate who a couple of years later discover how they've been duped and then caste their votes to the other side - choosing the other cheek of the same arse hole political setup.

Why should America care what happens in Syria? Syria is no ally to America. Syria adds nothing to the American economy or American culture. That country is part of the backwards third world. For as long as so called Americans have been arrogantly waging their wars of aggression against most the world, it has been a wonder as to why they love to deliver suffering, mayhem, slaughter and destruction to so many countries that never did anything to harm America.

 

Certainly this is because of some kind of wing nut neocon agenda that does not involve any consideration for the lives of Syrian civilians, or the fact that this is directly supporting Al Qaeda.

 

The fundamental problem is the same for Syrians, Americans, Brittans, Russians, for nearly any population on this planet, they have forgotten or just don't know because it was never told, or explained, or never studied history (their own or that of others, that history was time and again; tyranny, an empire, a dictator, a king, rulers, a regime, dominators, etc) Was always the same kind of history, about rulers vs a population. The same type of persons (dominators) that ruled over populations over the last couple of thousands of years have established themselves once again in top of power (in nearly every country in the world) , by dominating over others in hierarchy, by using politics, money, black mail, intimidation, deception, tyranny, false flags, threats, even murder and plots)

The next problem for populations to preserve their freedom, is that establishments are able to organize a population (via their political system) by using fear and deception (the propaganda) and cause all kinds of problems that cause resistance in a population. If millions of people fight the same problems (economic, social, ecologic, etc) they are organized, if millions of people are under the same presssure, uncertainty or fear for years, they start to band or group together, because that is a natural process. But when the problems and fears are artificially created, the cause of the organisation is artifical (the many empires and e.g North Korea are the clearest examples in history of artifical organisation)

Syria had elections. But the fake Americans keep on dictating to Syria to rig it like we rig it. So since Syrians prefer to do it their way, the fake Americans wage war on Syria according to the US military policy we have had since Lincoln:

I don't know where you get your info but we have real elections here it is nothing like syria. Recently a no name hack with no credentials became our president. It is truly an open wide system. You don't even need talent and you can join in.
