    Lol...No, you were wrong again.
Bigots go to jail for refusing to do their job.
    Davis is no Christian.
She's a hypocrite attention whore trying to con the rubes out of some money.

She agreed to it if she had her name removed from the document... What's the issue with that? This no compromise business is breeding hatred, history will repeat itself sadly... Why? No one can accept others because of the simple reason they have different beliefs, and compromise is a belief of the past.

We make "special" exceptions for all kinds of different people, why not someone with their own beliefs? Oh right... That's selective to your beliefs right..

I was right, and they said it would never happen.

Now that it has happened, they say it hasn't happened.

No one is going to jail for their beliefs. A government worker is going to jail for attempting to illegally use the power of government to discriminate against citizens. She can be as bigoted as she wants when she's off the clock, but when she is acting as an agent of government power, she must abide by the Constitution.

Or it shows that Americans tend to err on the side of increased freedom when it comes to cheering.

Yeah, I've already heard that line of reasoning. It doesn't hold water with me. I predicted this would happen, and it has happened. Whether you believe it or not. She is going to jail for her religious beliefs, because if it weren't for the fact that gay marriage is against her belief, she wouldn't be refusing to issue the marriage licences. Why is that so hard to understand?

Wrong. They go to jail just like anyone that refuses to obey a Court Order, if her reasons are not valid it does not matter what she claims they are and the judge said her reasons where not. She had a choice and knew what the consequences would be ahead of time.

Your post is well researched, but I disagree. I would agree if she had left it at "I personally cannot do it." Once she prohibited her office staff from issuing licenses, she crossed the Rubicon.

The Office of County Clerk doesn't have religious beliefs.

You seem to be ignoring the fact that she abused her government power and forced the other workers in her office to not issue the licenses regardless of their beliefs.

She went to jail because of her religious beliefs. No other reason. Just as I predicted. She is only the first, she won't be the last.

She is the only one who can certify the licences. Her name is on all of them. In California, thousands of people apply for a concealed carry weapons permit and they are denied as well. That is what those people do, use their judgement to determine who gets one.

She is entitled to the office, and entitled to run it as she sees fit. Just like Obama.

If people don't like it, don't vote for her.

So if Obama converted to fundamentalist Islam while still in office and then ordered the Executive Branch to not protect the rights of Christians or Jews unless they pay a special tax, his actions would be protected by the 1st Amendment and your just say "Well if you don't like him, don't vote for him"?

Well Obama has been usurping the laws even the ones he passed like Obamacare and when conservatives have complained that has pretty much been the response from the liberals to us.

P.S. I'm surprised Obama hasn't imposed Sharia law being as everyone knows he's a muslim.

Usually when the question is really dumb, I assume it is rhetorical.

My mistake. Okay then so here's my response:

    1) Ordering the Dept. of Justice to not protect the rights of any Americans (in this case Christians or Jews) is an unlawful order. Anyone following those orders could be prosecuted for doing so.

    2) The president does not impose taxes, congress does.

    3) Since #1 & #2 cannot be implemented by any means, his First Amendment protection are not of any consequences.

So then you agree that government workers do not have the power to command their subordinates to no protect the Constitutional rights of citizens, even when they are claiming such actions are in keeping with their religion. Good. It's nice to you reverse course and now oppose Davis.

I answered a dumb question about Obama, which has nothing to do with the Davis case.

I believe Davis has every right to do what she is doing. Mainly, a First Amendment right.

She does not have a First Amendment right to use government power to violate the rights of citizens.

I didn't say she did. And the judge who put her in jail doesn't have the right to use government power to violate her First Amendment rights, take away her freedom, and put her in jail.

So I just did some googling in the internetwebs and found a whole bunch of GoFundMe stuff that was political, not on the periphery but entirely political. Everything from the pizzeria that refused to cater gay weddings to the LGBT Indiana youth movement but apparently GoFundMe only NOW has an issue with money being raised for political purposes. Talk about being selective.

It's not the politics of the fundraising...it's the hate group/discrimination aspect that they have been getting heat about.

They had no problems hosting the page for the pizzeria and that was far bigger news than this Davis women. Of course the difference was that they made out like bandits apparently since they get a small cut. Maybe they thought that Davis wasn't going to raise very much and figured it wasn't worth the heat. It was a (*)(*)(*)(*)ty move no matter how you look at it. Either you let political stuff be allowed or you don't. If they start picking and choosing they will end up losing a ton of customers especially if another company opens up a similar site and says we don't discriminate against anyone.

You just agreed that she has no right to use government power to violate the rights of others. THAT is what she is in jail for.
