Really? PUNISHMENT for using a 'constitutionally protected act'. What did he have in mind? Big letter A on the foreheads? Pay a fine? Go to jail?

Donald Trump tells Chris Matthews: Women deserve ‘some form of punishment’ for abortion

    David Edwards DAVID EDWARDS
    30 MAR 2016 AT 15:06 ET

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said on Wednesday that women who had abortions should face “some form of punishment” if Republicans were successful in banning the practice.

During a town hall event that set to air on MSNBC Wednesday night, host Chris Matthews insisted that Trump could not dodge the question of how to enforce an abortion ban.

“Look, people in certain parts of the Republican Party, conservative Republicans, would say, ‘Yes, it should,’” Trump replied, according to a transcript obtained by Bloomberg. “I would say it’s a very serious problem and it’s a problem we have to decide on. Are you going to send them to jail?”

“There has to be some form of punishment,” he said.

    “For the woman?” Matthews pressed.

“Yeah,” Trump replied, adding that the punishment would “have to be determined.”

“They’ve set the law and frankly the judges, you’re going to have a very big election coming up for that reason because you have judges where it’s a real tipping point and with the loss of Scalia, who was a very strong conservative, this presidential election is going to be very important,” the candidate opined...

    True.

The Trump campaign has always lacked a prayer of actually getting the nomination.

His circus act was bound to wear thin.

You all have to admit, Trump will do a far better job than Obama at unifying the country.

It will be a unification of universal dislike for Trump. But a unification nonetheless. How refreshing!

Wait. Wouldn't a "successful ban" necessarily require the "constitutionally protected" bit be first overturned? Else, it wouldn't be a successful ban. Wouldn't a "successful ban", then, include some sort of punishment? Else, it wouldn't be meaningful or enforceable.

Republicans are NEVER going to see a successful ban of abortions. Never.

But this is reaching a bit, imo, for no purpose other than to try to demonize Trump. In this case, what he said is correct. If republicans were to, somehow, successfully ban abortion, then abortion would become illegal. If someone broke that law, there would have to be some punishment. Common sense, no?

Watching the trump campaign is liking watching the movie Mean Girls...only with far more immaturity and hair pulling.

I will agree that trump has united all American hate groups and Women-Haters under a common banner.

    That was quite a stretch

Bottom line...Trump doesn't have a clue and as always is taking out his posterior.

In this case really TRYING to alienate women further than he already has.

Trump trying to sound smart is like someone who excels at playing an orchid trying to play a violin. Just because the two instruments have strings, does NOT mean you play them the same way. In this case, just because Donald Trump made a lot of money doesn't mean he's smart. He's actually surprisingly very dumb.

But I'm happy he opened up the conversation.

He actually didn't make a lot of money. He inherited a lot of money and would have been better off financially if he had invested that money in any bank.

Instead he made minimal gains by scamming people.

    trump university....lmao!

A trump supporter who finds my posts threatening?!? What a shocker!

That's ok...it won't stop me from amusing myself by responding to your nonsense. I don't really talk to trump supporters anyway...I just talk at them.

It surprises me the number of people that purposely misrepresent Trump's statements.

I think its good that trump is the leader of this American nationalist/fascist movement. He is a kkklown and ensures that they'll never have any credibility. If they actually had an intelligent leader, it would be far more disturbing.

I'm actually very much hoping that once trump loses, his spins this entire group into its own party. It will be made into a joke and will enable the real conservatives to get back their party without the racism, misogyny and xenophobia.

Palin was an idiot. Biden is an idiot. Obama... not a whole lot better (although he's matured a lot in his second term). Trump though... he's a whole new level of 'wow.' The idea of Trump running this country is like a really bad B movie plot.

I blame the American voter for it all. At this point, the only solutions are ugly ones and voters are not willing to accept them. So no one who really plans on solving those problems is going to run. And that means the only people standing up to ask for the mantle are ones who are either unrealistic, dishonest, or some unholy combination of the two.

I think Trump's a tool. But the OP is just an example of pure partisan spin and/or lack of reading comprehension. People who seek truth are not fooled.
