I got a question for the mods. No Googling! Serious about this. First mod to get this wins:

Earl is on his way to the market to sell some apples. He does so every Sunday at 11:00AM Eastern Standard time. He leaves his home in Raleigh, NC to pick apples at 8:00AM EST. If Earl has twelve sisters and each borrow the family car on Sundays, what time does the market open?

    Hmm, an op asks for

And as soon as the discussion while still civil starts touching on the bad and the ugly they start derailing their own thread.

Not surprising. I'm sure we will get a couple more pages of this followed by a

'This thread has to veered off track no longer serving its purpose blah blah blah LOCKED'

Please tell me you guys dont actually believe you are being sly? Its about as subtle as a Donald Trump speech.

Sure, English is the lingua franca (funnily enough, that expression comes from Italian) but that doesn't make it any more or less descriptive than any other languages. In fact, I don't think one can really argue that one language is concretely more descriptive than another. For example, in Slavic languages a feature exists whereby every verb has "aspects" and the aspect used depends on whether the action was performed in a continuous manner or otherwise, and this allows for more nuances to be conveyed in a description of an action using fewer words; so if popijem kavu, you know that I drank up the coffee and finished drinking simply because I said "popijem" not "pijem." Some concepts are also just easier to describe in certain languages; English might be a better language in which to discuss certain topics, but other languages would be more fitting for other topics. I have serious problems discussing German philosophy in English because certain words and concepts just aren't part of English, and then awkward translations ensue, such as Aufhebung as "abolition" (which always makes me cringe).

I have a contest idea. Whoever can rack up the most posting violations in a week, wins like, a $1,000 or some kitchen magnets.

If its nigh impossible to find members with "good records" that's a failure of the staff not the membership.

I am talking about how English is inherently highly descriptive specific to Technology.

I am fluent in a number of languages and I am OK in a great many more.

So I KNOW that if one speaks Portuguese, French, Italian, Russian, Polish...etc....it just does not convey the same descriptive methodology as English and specifically American English.

Did you know there are so many American English Techno Worlds such as Email..etc...that the French Cultural Ministry lobbied and won agreement from the French Government that these American English Techno Words were...."Eroding the very fabric of French Culture one word at a time!"....LOL!!!

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP!!!

The French Government actually spent millions upon millions of dollars getting all their French Governmental Computer Software PURGED of all American English Techno Worlds like Email!!!

Some members really need to mello out as far as the Mods.

As far as being a Mod on this forum....imagine being a Kindergarten Teacher....for a class of Millions.

Then imagine all these kids are high on coke, booze and whatever assorted Rx drugs they might be on....and then imagine all these kids are sexually frustrated because if they were not they sure as HELL would be out with a DATE rather than be posting on a forum on the internet......

.....then imagine the constant fighting and bickering between all these kids in such a class and all you have are 10 aids to help you!!! LOL!!

    Give the Mod's a break!!!

By the way I no longer date so they come over to my home!! LOL!!

It is possible to be too young for gout I would imagine; and

I suppose it could have been, but that would require me to have diabetes, which I do not. Except for the 4 liters of Mountain Dew I drink a day, I seldom touch sugar :alcoholic:

As a newbie, I actually do have a question of the moderators. I am a true newbie having been here for only some weeks and have been only marginally active so far while watching the dynamics of the board. I was hoping for a wisely moderated board and, for the most part, it seems to be that though I have been subject to personal insults--I wouldn't exactly call them attacks--when I offered an argument somebody didn't agree with. It happened to be on an abortion thread though so I wasn't all that surprised. Such threads do tend to attract folks who take it very personally.

But my question. What happens if you do get an infraction? Are you advised of it via PM? On the board? I don't think I have broken any rules (yet) but was just curious.
