I am not a Mod but I can tell you what I know.

If you get an infraction....and don't worry if you do because many people do including me....you will see it posted to your Control Panel page between the top list of your subscribed threads and the Honors given to you by other members.

As far as personal attacks....you have to have a thick skin here as some members can be jerks but just ignore them if you can.

The Mod's here in my opinion are decent enough and are fair.

You know I run daily and I never get gout but I was in Spain and Portugal and I was at a friends home and he cooked on the grill a bunch of sardines.

Now sardines when grilled stink to high heaven but they taste awesome and at 6 foot 2 inches and 238 lbs I ate 14 large sardines that were freshly caught in about 4 hours.

Next morning my toe was swollen like you would not believe!!!

    Sardines are LOADED with Purine!!

And I am in great shape...but I still got it!!

You will get an automated private message.
Also, new members usually get a few formal warnings before receiving an actual infraction. These will also be sent via automated PM.
If you click on your user-name, and go to the "Infractions" tab, you should be able to see how many infractions (and warnings) you've received.

At the bottom of the rules page there is a schedule which specifies what happens if you receive a certain number of infraction points.
Per the table, if you receive so many, it starts with temporary bans, and, if you continue to get them, eventually a permanent ban.
There is also a table in the rules which specifies how many infraction points certain infractions are worth.
Warnings never carry points. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I hope I don't have to find out the hard way. I've never ever had an infraction with points anywhere--I did receive a warning or two sometime back--but I just wondered what the system was. Thanks again.

I haven't interacted with folks here, including mods, to form an opinion, except that I have noted some very competent posts. That is why I decided to wade in here.

As for a thick skin, I've enough experience on these boards to be very aware of the dynamics and the numbnuts are found everywhere, even on the most rigidly moderated boards. But I wear my bullet proof vest and keep batteries in the bullsh*t detector and all is well.

    Thanks for your thoughtful response.

Your posts are fun to read. You're a puzzle. You write good, but believing someone is a medical doctor one day, a quantum physicist the next day, and globe- trotting military man the next day is difficult. Fun though.

I never said I was a Medical Doctor.

I just said I have a Medical Degree as in specific to medicine.

One of our family owned companies deals in healthcare, medicine and medical equipment.

Both my family and I are very wealthy because we worked very hard to be so.

Both of my parents were the first kids to go to college in their families and their parents were very poor.

I do not take my wealth for granted and I give back as often and as much as I can.

You forgot the second part to that. 'Good Record and Says Yes'

There are thousands of members here with great records. Funnily enough, nobody wants the joy of dealing with the kinds of posters that one deals with as a Mod. Can't imagine why........

Please don't (*)(*)(*)(*) on my back and tell me its raining.

Please do not now try and pretend that the primary issue you were bemoaning that not enough people say "yes". You were bemoning that there aren't enough members with good records. People not saying "yes" was secondary.

There are thousands of members who join make a few posts and never come back. Most all who are actually part of the community do not have stellar records especially with the way the forum has been moderated over the last 6 years. This idea that you need stellar records to be a mod is bull(*)(*)(*)(*) and insulting. Most of the membership do not have stellar records. The staff is supposed to be representative of the membership. Your theory makes about as much sense as banning anyone who has ever had a speeding ticket from becoming a traffic cop. Those are the last people you want doing that job.

We don't want people who have never gotten an infraction handing out infractions. Stellar record means absolute net-nanny. So no they are not necessarily say good people. Net-nanny's are just about the most evil people on the internet. And by far the most annoying. At least racists and Nazi's will usually argue their positions . Net-nannys spam the report button.

If I was asked I would say no because I dont want to work with this staff, especially the old hangers on.

P.S. While I appreciate you engaging you are a former mod. Its sad that thread that had an OP that said

Has been totally abounded by the staff in regards to anything bad or ugly. We've even been told we cant discuss the rules when the OP said.

Now how do you square that apple?

Question, is it allowed to say that Iraq and Syria have a right to kill ISIS members who cross the border to wage their Islamic inspired war?

Loanwords are a thing. In colloquial French, despite the nationalist plonkers in the government and the language regulation bodies, people have absolutely no problem with using English loanwords for technology. These loanwords also tend to be well-integrated into the language which is borrowing them; in German, for instance, the verb simsen (to text) comes from "SMS." But it looks and is conjugated like an original German verb. And while English may be the origin of many technological terms, the same cannot be said for military or philosophical terms for example, and it's not as if one of these fields is more valuable than another.

OK...your post to me conveys information but the way it is written it makes no sense perhaps because of any translation software you might be using?

    Please clarify?

You know there are a huge number of French words used in American English and I always get a chuckle that those who speak English in the U.K. REFUSE to use the French pronunciation of French embedded words in the English language.

In American English we pronounce Fillet as do the French but in U.K. English they pronounce Fillet as...FILL IT.

Most members here haven't been infracted. Most infractions are attracted by a small group of repeat offenders.

The reason they want people with clean records is that Mods need to have the support and respect of members. If they have attracted infractions for insults or abuse they won't have that respect and their activity will be seen to be biased.
