in the OPs article it stated they worked for both Democratic and Republican administrations. Which means their experience crossed partisan lines.

And also within the OPs article was the achnowledgment that this kind of walk-out is unprecedented.

As for the reasoning, those were the two main reasons, along with the 'unprecedented' scope of action they took.

If they come out later and give differing reasons, I'll listen. Until such time all we have is conjecture based on the presented evidence.

It doesn't matter who they like or not, they've made things in the M.E. so much worse. The JV team proved them to be incompetents. We're better off without them.

No. I want a detailed description of how the TRUMP WALL will work, along with surveys, and essential details that the public will no doubt desire to see, given the vacuous and idiotic nature of it, and the people who want it.

I'd also like to see how It is going to stop tunnels, or how it's going to stop the guys who will just use a ladder (since the Trump admin has ordered a hiring freeze on all non-military government hiring, and these guys are not military) to go over the wall. I'd like to hear your description of how this wall will be built in areas where it is simply impossible to build it.

I'd also like to hear how it is going to be paid for, how much my individual contribution will be, and, since it's guaranteed not to work, I'd like to know when I will be reimbursed, or how I join the class action lawsuit that inevitably will be filed to counter it.

Additionally, and finally, I'd like to know how and why you lot all fell for it.

Compared to the previous 8 years, Obama's team did pretty good champ. Remember, he took over from a bunch of incompetent screw ups that presided over the biggest attack on American soil since the Civil War, then started two decades long bloody trillion dollar wars which totally destabilized the Middle East region. Add up all of those killed by terrorists and the soldiers killed in those idiotic wars under Bush/Cheney, then subtract those killed under Obama/Biden.....The numbers don't lie. If Trump and his bunch sit picking their noses and running their mouths like Bush and his band of war profiteering scumbags did while we get hit, then start up more idiotic wars, they should be hung in the public square. We have already seen that movie.

I read where Patrick Kennedy was asked to leave. He was called to testify by Congress concerning Hill's emails and he was the one who tried to get some of her leaked emails classified to a lower level. Good riddance...

Careerists at State are different than other federal employees. The requirements for employment are different, training is different,

I think those senior officials don't want to be identified with the clusterfluck that is the Trump foreign policy. The people who replace them will have short shelf lives in the foreign service.

Pssssstt!! It's a secret, but they've got this new thing now, called a tunnel! They've actually tried it out and it works really well!

3 of the 4 were apparently appointed to SES positions by the Obama admin though, which certainly could imply a certain level of partisanship.

I'll look into it more though, I'm sure more info will be forthcoming.

    Ok, I'll play.

Sure, they can dig tunnels. They dig tunnels because it's getting harder and harder to smuggle things overland. You know, because of walls and stuff.

Apparently they have this thing called technology and people that can be used like ground-penetrating radar and people that go into the tunnels to stop them breaching our underground drainage systems.

    https://www.cbp.gov/frontline/what-lies-beneath

In order to stop the drugs, human trafficking, and other things coming across our border, it requires this thing called a "plan" and something called "effort" to actually do something about it.

A wall is part of a solution, no one is claiming it is THE solution.

Maybe. Foreign Policy was never Obamas strong suit and while I think the general madness that is the ME right now is the culimation of decades of poorly thought out ideas of how to deal with ME culture, Obamas decisions only made it worse.

That said, I never though the current team would last long under Trump, but them leaving now before any transition can occur is going to hamstring Trumps team as these aren't the kinds of positions you can just fill from random places.

Political appointments are always partisan to an extent. I am curious to see how this shakes out. It's going to make Trumps life more difficult, that's for sure.

Mexican drug cartels have used tunnels under the existing walled portions of hte US border for years, with apparant success.

Trump's wall isn't a solution. It's a gimmick for the white resentment crowd, who will pay for it.

It's part of the solution. Walls work, and have for thousands of years. That's why we invented them.

    - - - Updated - - -

As ambassadors, not as SES political appointees chosen by the Obama administration.

Kennedy is the only exception to that as far as I can tell. Regardless, it's 4 people. So what.

    - - - Updated - - -

I don't think 4 vacancies are going to destroy the State Department.

Guess why they're digging tunnels? It's because we're putting up walls.

Walls work. It's why Israel built one that cut terror attacks between 50% and 90% depending on what you read.

Walls also don't exist in a vacuum. Do you think we're going to throw up the wall, dust our hands off, and say "ok we're done"?

No one, including Trump, has suggested this is the end-all, be-all of fighting illegal immigration.

Perhaps you missed the part of him expanding and hiring someething like 5000 more border patrol agents?

Would you rather we handle it like the Obama administration where people stopped at the border are just given bus tickets to anywhere in the US they want to go to?

Were you wondering when Obama was going to pay you back for paying off Hamas and Iran?

I would not call that spin what you just said, I would call it blatant propaganda.

I can see why this nation is so screwed up... they believe what they want to believe.

More to it than not liking trump. Sounds more like they would not be able to continue business as usual, and didn't like that. Trump ran on stopping regime change, destabilizing other nations, conducting foreign policy which is not in the interest of America and her people, and only serving a small group of rich elites. This is all those employees knew. Good riddance, sometimes parts of the swamp will drain itself. They will soon be a lobby for the Saudis and other arab nations.

I notice that you did not dispute any of the facts I presented regarding the dead Americans. This nation is a solid entity which is also the most powerful and respected nation in the world. I just hope this TV crackpot doesn't screw it up by shooting his big ignorant mouth off and saying things like "we should have took the oil from Iraq, maybe we'll get another chance", like he did at a public CIA briefing two days ago. That's not propaganda champ, that came right out of Trump's mouth with a bevy of cameras present. You are the one who refuses to see things as they really are. Time to wake up.

I suggest you practice what you preach.

Things will get bad for people like you because now you'll have to deal with reality, the bubble you've been securely located in has burst. Things were bad for 10 years, we're heading in the same direction Reagan took us in back in the 80's. I guess you'd consider that bad news, but the majority of America will consider it good news.

Just remember, you don't get to the top by being a pushover, you get to the top by being strong.

It will be more than just the wall. There will be more border patrol, and probably even some high tech devices that pick up tunneling, as well as drones. Believing you cannot cut down drastically illegals crossing the border in the 21st century is just nonsense. There hasn't been enough of a will from the presidents in the past to do it. Trump will disappoint those who underestimate him and underestimate the technology we have to reduce illegals crossing the border. We are not living in the 19th century. All it takes is the will and funding to do it. Congress has not funded barriers much at all, for most of them want illegal cheap labor for their donors. They should all be in prison, or most of them, for dereliction of duty as our public servants and represenatives.
