They were serfs before 1861. Former Russian serfs received property of the nobles in 1918 -- after the 1917 revolution.
I do not know. My great grand parents got a room in an apartment per family. Life in Russia 1918 was much less affluent. All my great grand parents were Jewish. Many Jews were serfs in 1828 -- '58 in different way that many Russian serfs.
That property was claimed as spoils from the aristocrats, by the communists, & divvied up to people, based on party loyalty. The most loyal got the better crap piles.

African Americans are a minority in USA -- thus it is hard for them to demand reparations. Descendants of serfs and Jews were the majority in Russia, so in 1917 they had enough power to overthrow the nobles. The nobles property was confiscated but the vast majority of nobles were spared. My ancestors were also like serfs -- Jewish Cantonists.
Really immaterial to the topic at hand. If African American descendants of slaves want reparations, they'd do better doing as I suggested, regarding African nations.

Well where do you think tax revenues come from? Well then why not just say your are against it since we can't afford and it wouldn't make a difference. And on top of that of course simple wrong to punish some for the sins of the past. Why not give it to poor whites too, you are advocating racial discrimination. And then of course that government foreclosed property belongs to the other taxpayers so you are still giving taxpayer money away. BTW I just looked in the major city I live next too, about 150.,000 people. There is ONE home listed on the HUD website. Same in the largest city in my state.
Not all of the government's money arrives by tax revenue. Because I am not against it in concept. You can give it to them as well, but I am guessing you would oppose it either way. Did you go through all the government agency listings that are linked to the HUD site like VA, etc?
Did many White Americans profit off of the forced labour of people they enslaved, and the nation reap the benefits of their involuntary servitude? Obviously. Slaves contributed enormously to the wealth of some families as they helped build the nation, a nation in which Whites were generally accorded both de iure and de facto advantages long after the practice was outlawed. Is it possible to now pay just compensation based upon race? Not to individuals, no. Many slaves were sold into slavery by fellow Africans. Many Americans who are descended from slaves are also descend from slave owners. Should they compensate themselves? Obviously, the injustice inherent in the practice of slavery endures and has inflicted undeniable consequences, but those social inequities cannot be redressed by individual payoffs. Nor would it be fair or practical to now bill families that can be shown to have profited from slavery. A national memorial that honours the contributions of slaves to the nation is the best we can now do. I would support such a recognition.
