    Countries like Sweden aren't Socialist. Here's what Forbes said in January. Compare it with the Conservative mantra versus the Liberal drivel in this country:
    If you’re Swedish, you should be feeling pretty proud of yourself right now. Here's a few reasons why.

    It’s easy to do business there

    It’s really easy to do business in Sweden. So much so that it now ranks number one on the Forbes’ annual list of the Best Countries for Business. Compare that to economic powerhouse the US, which is in 23rd place.

    Ten years ago, Sweden ranked no 17, but since then it has embarked upon a number of initiatives that have propelled it to the top. “Over the past two decades the country has undergone a transformation built on deregulation and budget self-restraint with cuts to Sweden’s welfare state,” says Forbes. It is also home to plenty of tech innovation and to “some of the most venerable, well-known brands in the world, including Volvo, Electrolux, Ericsson, IKEA and H&M.”

    Forbes graded 139 countries on 11 factors including, innovation, taxes, technology, levels of bureaucracy and stock market performance.

    It is globally competitive

    The World Economic Forum publishes a Global Competitiveness Index every year, and this year it put Sweden in sixth place. “Growth has been robust, at 3.7 percent in 2016, and the country has managed to significantly decrease its deficit in 2015, jumping 30 places to 22nd on this indicator.

    “The labour market functions reasonably well and Sweden has a high employment rate, with a high level of women’s participation in the workforce.”

    https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017...ost-other-countries-at-just-about-everything/

    Then there's Norway with their massive oil production per capita.

    On Belgium:

    The economy continued to trundle along at a moderate pace in Q1, according to recently released data from the National Bank of Belgium (NBB). The performance was reflected by business and consumer confidence indicators which remained close to neutral territory throughout the quarter and a mild rise in industrial production in the first two months of the year. Q1’s expansion comes after sedate growth last year, propped up by strong business investment as firms benefited from loose financing conditions and greater profitability thanks to lower labor costs and social security contributions.

    Thank goodness for the lower labor costs --- not exactly a liberal value. Scandinavian welfare states have historically had high unemployment rates, but they aren't socialist like Cuba and the USSR were.

    The voters Obama and his consultant, Jonathan Gruber, described as morons are fighting back. Precious.

    They may be highly educated but their education comes with the elitist attitude that "only they know best how to promote the redistribution of the wealth of others, It has only failed thus far because others have not benefited from their elitist wisdom.

    You actually think that leaving people with no other choice but such a public option means that people wholeheartedly support only the public option. That sort of daftness is difficult to penetrate.

    What, exactly, would be wrong with privatizing fire fighting at this point in history?

    Whatever you say. Every thread about socialism results in socialists claiming no one understands what it is, or what liberals are.

    The scourge of "socialism" is this.... on the front end, wise people understand that their earnings are being robbed for redistribution. On the rear end human nature looks forward to their earnings being returned to some degree, forgetting they were robbed in the 1st place.
    Take a look at how tax returns for instance are viewed by the masses. On the one hand, for hourly and some salary wage earners, more money is with held by government dictates than necessary. It is held onto for a fiscal year by the government. When returned it is often viewed as a "gift" from government.A large majority of Americans have become cattle.....laboring and waiting in line to be abused for their ignorance.

    What is the benefit of that petty comment? The Left has been in control of education for decades, after all: yet another example of something the left gets wrong.

    So what your saying is there are no rich and poor in say

    China=Wang Jianlin@$26 billion
    Denmark=Anders Holch Povlsen@ $6 Billion
    Finland=Antti Herlin@ $3.6 Billion
    Netherlands=John Arthur Fentener van Vlissingen $1.6 billion

    Canada=Canada is a country that is blessed with 78 Billionaires. Among the wealthiest on the list is director James Cameron and singer Celine Dion both with more than $700 Million. Altogether, the 100 wealthiest people in Canada have more than $200 Billion. Below is a list of the richest people in Canada.

    Sweden=Stefan Persson@ $34 Billion
    Norway=John Friedriksen@ $13 billion
    Ireland=Pallonji Mistry@ $10.5 Billion
    New Zealand=Graeme Hart@ $5.7 billion
    Belgium=Patokh Chodiev@ $1.9 Billion

    Pretty sure these numbers do not reflect the average wealth of the population of each country ;)

    We've done it here. Google it; there is copious information available about it. There is nothing wrong with it. They are no more prone to failure to provide service than any public option - probably less, since competition ensures best mix of service and price - and would introduce two variables which could improve our result:

    1. Fear of upsetting customers and failing;

    2. Allowing the desire to run a profitable operation to control costs of running the operation

    Liberals think that removing the profit motives results in lower costs, but it doesn't: it results in far less concern about the costs, as a third party - the taxpayer - is forced to pay.

    Human nature doesn't and hasn't changed. We are not ants, nor will we ever be. Ants are communistic, because they're not human.

    When does the desire to provide for one's family and gain for them comfort and experiences - freedom - go from that motive, merely to greed?

    And at what point does this 'greed' serve as a deleterious element in society? How does one person's acquisition of wealth for their own use harm another?

    Did Mark Zuckerberg in becoming a multi-billionaire deprive others in the process?

    When you have a bag of seed, you can consume the seed, and the result of doing so will be to provide yourself energy, for whatever purpose you decide.

    If you grow some of it, you produce plants, which then have the potential to produce more seed.

    Why do you seem to believe that wealth is not like that seed?

    It can easily be done, and has been done. Choosing to stay ignorant is no way to float through life, son.
