Hmm, we build German cars, Japanese cars, Korean cars
Be sure to tell us when (if) you manage to build anything better. There must surely be a reason we see US-built cars on European streets only very rarely. Could 'because nobody wants them' be one?

Generally speaking, the poorer people voted for Trump. Lots of super rich people did too. They were also suckered by him.

Most of the people in the rust belt and the mountains of Tennessee aren't driving BMWs.

I remember when the right, myself included, got very pissed off at President Obama for interjecting himself into the car industry by telling us what tire pressure to have, not to buy BMWs, and by using our tax money to cajole people to buy little hybrid boxes.

Unlike today's right, I am equally as pissed at President Trump for butting in where he doesn't belong and deciding what cars should be available to Americans.

The Trump supporters who accept this crap and who criticized Obama for doing something similar are hypocrites.

Nor are they about to manufacture them. One issue companies have with the US labor market is lack of fitness among applicants to do the jobs they need done!

    True.

You see very few BMWs in the trailer parks of PA, MI, and WI.

For imported cars you have to pay "Einfuhrumsatzsteuer" 19% and for domestic cars you have to pay 19% "Umsatzsteuer".

You are evidently ignorant about the VAT (Value Added Tax) process in countries that apply such tax. All cars in EU are subject to the 19% VAT.

Trump's ignorance is a prime example of why USA wins the initial intense conflict phase of wars but loses the peace afterward.

And what is your problem again when the USA is doing the same all the time too?
Again, how much tax and custom charges in the US on imported cars please?

No, it is called import VAT and such an import VAT is existing in every country on this planet. 19% is the usual German VAT you have to pay on nearly anything in Germany (some other things like food has 7%). So any German buying anything inside Germany and no matter if imported or here produced has to pay these 19% tax! In other EU countries it is lesser, in others higher, for example in The UK 20%!

So any complaining about is only short minded mentally ill rubbish, because this exists since ever in every country and when such a dumbass like Trump suddenly complains about, it shows only the real vacuum in his head where others have a brain!

The most ridiculous thing is that this idiot in the White House complains that we Germans buy too few US cars!
Sorry, but could this simply be because the free market decides here?
This is precisely the case, because many Americans are happy to smile about the small European cars as I know what their cause is!
Only ... most Germans do not want to have an "US Aircraft carrier with wheels" who needs 2 normal parking and have a fuel consumption that is twice as much as a German or even Japanese car!
The Dodge RAM consumes an average of 16 liters of petrol each 100km! The comparable VW Amrok consumes an average of 8 liters each 100km!

This brings us to the gasoline prices, which are an important factor! You Americans do not use the metric system, so I take both to ridicule the madness to buy and use an US car here!
Current petrol price in the US according to Google between 2.40 and 3.00 USD per gallon. 1 gallon = 3.7 liters ... 1 USD = 0.89 EUR... Current fuel price in Germany 1.30 and 1.40 EUR per liter. 1 liter = 0.26 gallons and 1 EUR = 1.45 USD!
In the clear text: 1 gallon of petrol = 3.7 liters cost in the US average 2.70 USD ... and in Germany costs 1 gallon of petrol in average 5 EUR = 5.58 USD ... more as twice as in the USA.

Tell me, why shall I buy such a thirsty US car please? Learn to make cars which are lesser thirsty and then come back with the BS blabbering about US car import into Germany!

That VW is far better compared to a small pickup like a Ford Ranger than a full sized Dodge Ram. To compare it to a Ram isnt even worth the time. It only has a very small fraction of the capabilities of the Ram and is much smaller overall.

And I use priced one of these out. For an inferior vehicle, it would cost me around $38,500. I wonder how many years I could drive the Ram to make up that $10,000 difference. I would also have to factor in costs to rent vehicles if I needed the added capabilities of the Ram.

With whom you compare what is your thing in the end, only your comparison I can not follow. Is also no preference, because why should I in Germany a Dodge RAM buy? What is the advantage of this for me, if less fuel thirsty cars (including Toyota from Japan) have the same benefit?

The fact is that the fuel price here in Germany is simply more than twice as high as in the USA and this is an important factor for the buyer! And you do not write here with someone who says that all US cars are crap ... no, I even love US cars and the import would not be a problem ... but the maintenance with its costs and therefore "no thanks"!

And sure. .. please start complaining about the high gasoline costs in Germany, then I am your ally!
But listen to Trump's gossip ... because there is no downside or something especially against US cars and other goods!

Choose the vehicle that works for you. I am only highlighting the fact that the Ram is a terrible comparison for the Amrok. If the Amrok works for you, then get one. I often haul things that the Amrok would not easily haul so it would not work for me.

Based on his comments here, Gump STILL doesn't get it.

He isn't just dumb by presidential standards, he's dumb by reality TV standards. Good gracious.

I own a Mercedes and a BMW. The BMW was made in South Carolina.

I like German engineering in automobiles.
