You're trolling again. If you don't believe, care to discuss or care to learn, why are you on this thread? This is about the only place on PF that you can be found, barking about a subject you know little about and one you don't believe in anyway.
I am in this thread to voice my opinion on woo BS. What is there to learn that I haven't already considered many, many years ago? If you want an NDE, stand very still, in the hot sun, for a long time. You will find your vision coming to a pinpoint (a black tunnel with a light at the end). It's called blacking out. It comes from a reduced flow of oxygen to the brain. I don't believe in any woo BS. Some people in this thread believe in all forms of woo BS. Aside from the anecdotal claims, there is no evidence whatsoever.
Both are excellent choices for anyone to read. . . two of my favorites. Thank you for sharing your recommendation.
I don't believe in woo BS either, but I made a commitment to do the research and follow whatever evidence I found to determine an answer to the question, "Does consciousness continue after physical death." When I began my research I was like you. .completely rejected the possibility of life after death. But I approached the subject with an open mind. . .like a true scientist willing to accept whatever dependable evidence was found regardless of which side of the argument that evidence supported. What I found was overwhelming and totally not what I expected. Another post found above from TrackerSam recommends two books that are both fun to read and entertaining, but both very detailed and convincing with the evidences they present. Take time to check them out of the library and examine them with an open mind. You'll be surprised by what you find.
Excellent choices indeed....... now I personally was really shocked by the two books that I read by Helen Wambach Ph. D.
We know. We heard you the first 1000 times. It falls on deaf ears because you are a Now run along and let the grownups talk.
Well I plan on being buried in one of those tree-seed pods so that my remains can promote the life of a tree. That and so I can leave this world packing some serious wood. Beyond that? Don't know. I'll find out eventually.
I am going to try to talk you into being frozen...... so that your friends in the NSA - CIA will know when you are resurrected............ ... the disappearance of your corpse from wherever you are at...... will be an important part of the evidence that this is him...... this is really "Q" aka / AboveAlpha......... .... this is somebody who will do diplomacy for us to this shiny guy who is doing all those strange super high tech demonstrations......... Part of the why is here in the same NDE account....... When somebody attains what could be termed "Cyrus Consciousness" they get to be a part of this event....... even though they were not expecting it......... Moshiach ben Ephrayim / Messiah son of Joseph.... serves as Viceroy..... (which I assume involves diplomacy)...... for Moshiach ben David...... (who I associate with Rabbi Yeshua on one level.... but there will be a human.... a Zeraite Jew rather than a Pharasite Jew).... NDE of Dr. Richard Eby verifies old earth and gap theory. ................. http://www.near-death.com/science/articles/richard-eby-and-secomd-coming-of-christ.html
I have read up on the subject, long ago. It was woo then, it is woo now. But, maybe I'm wrong. Show me some evidence.
If you and others don't want me to post responses, don't post comments to me - that should be easy enough for even you to understand.
Before anyone can show you convincing evidence, you have to be willing to consider that evidence with an open mind. The two books mentioned earlier are both very powerful pieces of evidence that should not be shoved aside and disregarded. Perhaps the most compelling recent work I can recommend is "Proof of Heaven," by Dr. Eben Alexander, who gives one of the most powerful scientific arguments ever published in support of an afterlife, all based on his own personal experience. You stated you "read up on the subject long ago," but much new research has been done in recent years that is far superior to the sketchy early years of afterlife research. I strongly recommend you offer them an open-minded review.
I should have stated my request for evidence more clearly. I didn't mean for you to tell me to read a book. I meant for you to explain, in your own words, what should be considered evidence. Nevertheless, I did take the time to research the book. I googled "Proof of Heaven, by Dr. Eben Alexander". I got two pages of ads for his book. Finally I came across this: http://www.theblaze.com/news/2013/0...-lie-article-exposes-alleged-inconsistencies/ Will you bother to take the time to read it? It's not very long. It's also not very favorable. Alexander is not the first person to experience "the gods beyond" when in a coma or under the influence of drugs. Shamans have used things like peyote for tens of thousands of years. If you want to experience a glimpse of encompassing darkness with a light at the end of the tunnel for yourself, it's very easy. Go outside on a very hot day and stand very still. After a period of time (how long depends on your physical fitness) your brain will slowly become deprived of oxygen. You will begin to experience "tunnel vision". Or, just try some LSD or psilocybin.
Drugs don't give an anesthetized patient who dies in an operating room the ability to leave their body, move around the hospital fully conscious, find their relatives in the waiting room, watch and listen to the discussion occurring there, observe physical interactions between those relatives, and be able after resuscitation to quote remarks made verbatim and describe the conversation in detail. Near Death Experiences (NDEs) are very different from drug induced hallucinations. NDEs are so powerful no one who has one ever forgets or gets over it. It's life changing--almost exclusively in very positive ways. Drugs don't do that either. The very fact that you choose to believe a nay-sayer, or a skeptic BEFORE actually reading the original source, would indicate a less-than open mind on the topic. Closed minded people aren't looking for truth. They're only looking for ways to spread their own unsubstantiated views.
Perhaps you do not realize that those who go to Heaven will have bodies. Just saying. You seemed confused about that.
Who died? Certainly not Eben Alexander. If you believe that he died, then what is the basis for your belief? His own words and writings? Has he produced medical records?
Pam Reynolds certainly did...... http://www.near-death.com/science/evidence/people-have-ndes-while-brain-dead.html
But....... we humans are perhaps within decades... maybe even years of being able to do something along the line of what was postulated in the movie Jurassic Park....... take DNA from amber or some other substance.... and create a creature deceased perhaps for millions of years.......... if intelligence does exist in the higher dimensions of space time.... you would think that their technology would be far, far, far, far beyond what we can even imagine at this time..... so........ some near death experiencers..... could well have actually died... and then been resurrected.
Did she? The following is from your link... What does "all of Pam's vital signs were stopped" refer to? Does it include brain function? An operation like the one described, would take at least an hour. No surgeon is going to begin to operate on a patient who will be brain dead for an hour. They would be called before a medical review board to explain why they were performing surgery on a dead patient. Has she produced medical records confirming she was brain dead during the operation? No. You just want to believe, so you believe.
It is possible that her particular case and how successfully she recovered is evidence that we are getting close to being able to do something with those people who decided to have their bodies frozen. Is it called cryogenic suspension?
I strongly recommend you read Eben Alexander's books, or at least listen to some of his talks shown on YouTube. Eben was a neurosurgeon before his experience. He backs everything in his books with in depth analysis of his medical records from a neurosurgeon's point of view. He was on life support in the hospital. His brainwaves had flatlined (he was brain dead), but his heart was still working. Most medical doctors today would consider him "dead." There's a powerful connection made in his book that strongly supports the reality of his out of body experience (OBE) or NDE (Near Death Experience), but the impact of that connection comes from reading the whole book. I will also say, he's a very clear, concise and interesting writer. His books are far from boring.
