Whatever the headline says; post here what you dreamt last night. The ones who wish to make some pseudo-freudian analysis of posted dreams are, of course, more than welcome to do so, but the main purpose is just to make this some kind of dream-diary for us all.

I rarely ever recall my dreams, but hope I will be able to provide some content for this thread sometime very soon. Maybe even tomorrow. :)

Here is one that rattled me. About three months after I met and fell in love with my first sugar baby, I dreamed that she was pregnant with my child. I was soooooo happy about it! I can still picture her shining like the morning sun as she smiled and told me.

I never had the feeling of really wanting a child until that moment.

Every time I start having a dream like that, I wake up. I think it has something to do with controlling my own actions in the dream.

It's like dreaming that you are running hard and realizing you are going slow. You wake up when you try to increase your speed.

I think you need to wake up during a dream to actually remember it... I hate waking up though, my dreams are quite vivid. I prefer pleasant dreams to night terrors I used to get.

You can train yourself to do lucid dreaming - where you become aware of the fact that you're dreaming, and take control. I was able to do it with fairly little effort.

Yep, I flew right out the window of that monorail like superman [in order to fly you just to think of it] and toured a city that looked like a cross between the Jetsons and Disneyland.

Mine, and it's a recurring one, is being somewhere high up and wondering how I'm going to get down to ground level. I just have to force myself to wake up and when I do I feel a bit discombobulated for a few seconds. I hate it. Another common one is forgetting where I've parked my car, and spend the rest of the night looking for it!!

    Sounds awful Cerb

The night terrors I used to get was a sleep awake state... you think you are awake, blinking your eyes but you are paralysed... you can see a shadow of a person walking slowly towards you while you are staring at them, but can't move or make a sound... it's when they lean over me that I finally wake up and realise I wasn't really awake... it's terrifying.

Wow that's seriously scary, Witchy - the shadow of someone walking towards you you, I mean. But I've had the paralysed nightmare-night terror (if they're one and the same thing) a few times. The very first time I'd been awake for 48 hours, so I was obviously dog-tired when I did eventually get to sleep. I was trying soooo hard to wake up, almost making it but not quite, and it was then that I felt paralysed. At the time I thought I was 'going'!! :omg: [IMG]

    Last night felt like heaven.

Someone I care about like a wife or a soul mate were... Travelling in this car sitting in the back of this old car my family had when I was growing up.
And my father was driving and me and this person were sitting in the back seat.
And I read the odometer because I could see it and that it was high, and in 'real life' my own car's is actually really high.
like, I bought it with 142, 000 miles on the clock and it's a 2001 and it turned out it had been sitting for a while too when I bought it too.. - so in this dream I knew my own car's was high. and I wanted to see if this old 1970s/1980s car's was higher, and as I read it, I saw like 120, 000 or whatever then I remembered having to look twice to tell this person I cared about, I saw my father in driver's seat too at some point, but to impress this girl I remember having to count off 'the zeros'/the digits past the first one and I counted 6, and saw that is was 1.2m miles... and I went over to the window that was open, and we were driving along and I saw a loose panel, so I pulled it towards me and noticed it was green, the colour of this other car my family had growing up, but it was the same make and model of this other one... So I pulled it back to show everybody/or played with it a bit.
Then I remember being stuck in traffic at a very busy single lane intersection and not moving, and everything outside looked different.
It was yellow/golden/bright & white, and the car was more like a white cloud than a car, as were the rest only, some were bigger, like busses too, as well as other cars and, it was peaceful traffic just waiting to enter this gate, like it was heaven (or judgement for entry to heaven). - I was looking at them and waiting with them to join the 'path' to heaven as I looked a head to the light of the gates of heaven/where I was trying to get to/heading to on this road I was on.

    Weird, but cool.

I'm 30 and never had a dream like this before.

I had sleeping paralysis once too, but I knew what it was so I didn't really panic and thus did not see any monsters. I just recall being awake not being able to move any body part, no matter how hard I tried. Even my eyes would not close.

Eventually, I managed to get back to sleep and woke up as normal.

Sounds like you are insecure or afraid of something. :p

I have had a dream quite similar to the "parking lot"-dream several times too; in the dream I am supposed to perform a task that I usually am very comfortable with. It can be something as easy as writing my name. I try and try and try, but never get it right and eventually the pencil falls into pieces. Sometimes it is a piano instead of a pencil (I do not really play the piano irl, but I do know some random songs and just enough to fool the untrained).

I'd hazard a guess that it's caused by the part of the brain that deals with motor function being 'asleep' but the part of it that deals with consciousness or awareness isn't?

No idea... How would you then explain people dreaming about flying or doing all kinds of whicked stuff they cannot master when awake? I would say that it rather is something psychological, perhaps I am afraid of failure or something.

Yes...I have had similar dreams about playing my guitar....I've had the strings turn into ropes etc. I try to play stuff I know well but can't seem to do it. Sometimes I have a dream I am on stage shredding though.
Go figure....Last night I had one of those 'Hypnic jerks' where you are just about to go into dreamland and you suddenly feel like you are falling and 'jerk' awake.

You have just drifted off to sleep when suddenly you feel like you are falling and are jerked awake.

    What happened?

You just experienced what is known as a “sleep start” or “hypnic jerk." Technically defined as “sudden brief, simultaneous contractions of the body or one or more body segments occurring at sleep onset”

I get that too. Sometimes it's so precipitate (what a lovely word?) that I fall out of bed.
