Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh." To that he adds "To be great is to be misunderstood." ~ Transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson
Social Security was upheld by the US Supreme Court in Helvering vs Davis [1935] under the 'general welfare' clause.
Sort of like Dred Scott a total miss reading of the constitution general welfare meant general welfare within context of the enumerated powers if it meant merely general welfare then the rest of the constitution would be unnecessary as a government could do whatever was necessary for the general welfare. Do you understand now how the communists have perverted our Constitution ? we still find the greedy hand of government thrusting itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasping the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised to furnish new pretences for revenue and taxation. It watches prosperity as its prey, and permits none to escape without a tribute. Thomas Paine, The Rights Of Man
Ironically, it was Paine and our Founders who influenced European scholars to adopt socialism into their social/moral philosophies.
1) obviously not true which is why you have no evidence 2) Our founders were as anti lib socialist commie nazi as possible which is why they gave central govt only a few carefully enumerated powers
You single out the Kochs, but what about George Soros, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and others who are as wealthy or more so and probably have a much greater voice and control over our government than do the Kochs? The irony as I see it is that more government has not reduced the wealth disparity at all, but has created an environment in which the wealthiest have become the primary source of revenue supporting government spending which in turn has been the means by which their wealth has grown, resulting in inflation causing stagnation of wealth building for the middle class, and higher costs of government support for the poorest.
The Constitution was written by geniuses and it does not require wealth equality or intelligence equality or appearance equality or parenting equality or educational equality. If you want those things you must find a totalitarian state to live in. The American concept is the exact opposite
Laughable. FDR was called "socialist" for creating Social Security just like Bismarck did in Germany. And as I previously showed you, Paine advocated the idea - decades before Marx was born. Our Founders demanded that there be NO STANDING ARMY which the deluded right wingers demand today. They more than anyone else opposed having a military industrial complex and corporate welfare. They also demanded and imposed separation of church and state which the deluded right wingers object to.
First of all, socialism and communism had not been created or invented when Paine led us, the French and many in Great Britain to grasp the essence of freedom from tyranny. You might be surprised to know that Paine actually was the founding father of our nation, his pamplets gave the colonists a way of understanding just how much freedom they did not have at the time. He went from here to France to spread his ideas there. Paine was not a socialist but he was indeed someone who cared deeply about the average person.
Socialism and communism had not been created.? Total BS of course liberals had used 1001 rationales for powerful central government's throughout American history. Thomas Jefferson: I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from taking over their resources Under the pretense of taking care of them"
TomPaine: said "there are two kinds of people in this world those who pay the taxes and those who live off of people that pay the taxes"
Robin Hood and Plato advocateD socialism but that does not mean our founders day or that there is one word in our Constitution about it in fact in America the idea is basically treasonous because we believe in freedom not welfare
So you don't want a standing army and you think right wingers are deluded for wanting a standing army?
Right wingers object to separation of church and state of course it's true he would not be so afraid to present your best example
WWJD? What would Jefferson do? Read the writings of our Founding Fathers and you will readily find their views on the subject.
Eliminate the military industrial complex corporate welfare system and you will have your wish fulfilled.
of course it would be stupid and liberal not to have a military to defend us against Nazis communist ISIS
In Jeffersons day there were no intercontinental ballistic missile's that could strike in 20 minutes so preparedness was not the issue that it is today. Honestly this is something That children indicate an ability to understand
It would also be stupid to let American citizens starve to death in the streets and die of the flu for lack of medical attention. It would also be stupid to let Americans not receive an education, to keep churning out bright and smart Americans. For the betterment of American society.
that's so true which is why we have medicaid Medicare schip VA tricare community clinics and emergency room care open to all. It boggles the mind that a liberal does not know about these programs.
so true which is why we have free k-12!! It boggles the mind that liberals do not know about these programs
exactly and let the Girl Scouts defend us again North Korean ICBM's!! Liberals always have a better solution!!
Even more boggling is the R type people have no clue what the R type is wanting to pass. Many millions will be kicked of Medicare under the latest Senate R plan. 22M in a decade. ER's is expensive. The liberals know all about what you whine about, it's why the ACA was passed. Why not learn something?
It boggles my mind that the R party wants to cut public education. How does a RWer not know this? Binary thinkers?
