Quite a stretch for your claims of "socialism." Naval Hospitals for seamen were a new concept at that time. Had funds or taxes from merchant trading been used for those other than seamen, then you'd have more of a case.

 

I lobbied my own MP recently (member of parliament) because ASLEF (this union) are stopping Southern (Southern Railways) from functioning properly...
I hate that my MP's a socialist because in my letter, my MP blames the transport secretary! So I googled: transport+secretary+southern+railways and found;

... I'm now tempted to get in contact with the transport secretary and say
'Well I've contacted my MP and he was no help so I don't know who else to turn to, could you help?'.. (something along those lines).

Talk about wasteful though, I got a letter through the post from my MP on a fine quality paper, like, embossed letterhead saying House of Commons and everything... (Expensive looking paper); when any paper'd do.
The only good thing about it is, I was told he was busy and I expected a month... Came right away.
My MP said he sympathised with me and was too effected by it as he depended on Southern to take him to the house of commons everyday... And then he went on to blame Southern and the transport secretary.

 

@ChrisL asked you where the was unregulated capitalism. Do you know what unregulated means? It means there are no regulations. The financial industry has never had no regulations, so it isn't unregulated.

Would you like to try again to show an example of this unregulated capitalism upon which you blame the country's ills?

 

For what crime exactly? Have they violated anyone's person or property?

 

If one's income doesn't cover one's costs, then one must reduce one's costs.

We don't have unfettered capitalism in America. So, obviously, unfettered capitalism can't be blamed for our current ills.

 

@Derideo_Te Last I heard, Germany were using their surplus and transferring it to credit Greece who, actually don't have any credit but somehow Germany's given them credit and nobody knows who's going to end up paying since Germany wasn't entirely within the rules to loan Greece in the first place.

 

Moral of the story; don't go crediting those who can't pay.
Because 12% (or whatever high APR) of 0 is still 0.

so say my grandfather started a company. It makes money. My late father then ran it for years and made it even more profitable. Now I own it and its making even more money. S what is the problem you want to change? that I am making money from a corporation my grandfather created and intended that his ancestors continue to run?

I love it when I hear people claim its wrong that the rich keep getting richer. well lots of us do because

1) we spend less than we bring in

2) we thus have money left over after paying for our necessities and taxes

3) we then INVEST that surplus amount which in turn makes us more money

when investments stop making me money, that means the economy has completely crashed
probably time to invest in canned goods and automatic weapons

 

I've known this about the UK for years ever since I saw a little girl in America with her lemonade stand and how we can't do that in the UK and I hate this about UK, there's so much red tape and this month, this happened..

A little British girl was fined £180.00 and shut down for having a lemonade stand. - As soon as I saw the story I was speechless. - But I already knew that's how this country is.

Thankfully the council who enforced it over turned it, but, that's what's wrong with the UK.

All children really need to worry about is buying the sachets and the signs and the stands and if people'd buy their lemonade, but instead we don't sell the supplies and will shut them down if they tried. - Britain needs less red tape and more free enterprise.

 

There's a business license for everything in the UK. - That's too much red tape.

 

Rich people exist in socialist countries and Europe has billionaires too. And government workers don't get paid that much.

 

Obamacare doesn't force you to pay it only penalizes you if you don't and helps the poor pay anyway, and most of the rest already have employer coverage.

 

Translation ~ before Obama care people could save up money to buy a home or go on vacation, but now they are forced to pay for health insurance...if Democrats had their way the tax of not buying Obama care would be higher..meaning the left told us how to spend our money.

Most people had health insurance before Obamacare anyway and most people who gained it were getting help to pay for it. Being uninsured isn't a win because you will get sick eventually and won't have the bargaining power for lower rates insurance companies have.
