I agree. The world, and America, is not the same today as it was two hundred years ago. 200 years ago if you immigrated you'd better be productive or you were going to starve. Nowadays all you have to do is sign up for welfare. That simple fact alone should be a huge incentive to toughen the criteria on immigration. Taxpayers are overburdened already with our bloated welfare system.
Good Lord.......did you have an affair with Irving Berlin or something? Who the hell cares about Irving Berlin with regard to the current discussion..........
" "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" In the up is down, two plus two equals five, black equals red right wing world, this is "cosmopolitan"!
I pointed out that the man who wrote "God Bless America" would have been denied entrance to the United States under these rules. I know all of you Trumspters got that point. I can tell because of the way you all studiously tried to ignore it.
No but it sure explains a lot about their ideas of constitutional law. It's amazing how many times that poem has been posted in this thread as if it were some sort of mic drop.
And I'm sure all these caring liberals regularly sponsor immigrants so they can enjoy the freedoms America has to offer. I'm sure they open up their homes and let them pour in.
Needs a KKKroudfund to remove the offensive statement masquerading as poetry which is causing such terrible affront to the insecure snowflake fascists as embodied by oil slick Miller.
I've already debunked your 'Albert Einstein wouldn't have been able to immigrate myth'.......we're not playing Jeopardy and the category 'successful Jewish immigrants of the 19th century' here........geez......how silly
And Lawrence's show last night was an attempt to pander to the left with his self-serving assignment of motive and then arguing against that motive instead of the merits of change it would seem. So why do you claim American workers aren't able to truck fruit to the market and don't have the skills to pick it. That's a pretty big insult to American workers.
How do you know that? And being a minor child he would come in under his parents qualifications anyway. And they could cone in on visa's. This is just about permanent residents learn the difference.
I'm Irish/Scot/British and I live American culture I don't know of any if those cultures I have kept. And I recall you having just posted that you kept none of your African culture so why are you now saying everybody keeps theirs?
The big insult is openly wanting to diminish American workers to that of migrant workers. What adds insult to injury is that hardcore conservatives would be okay with it to strike their nationalistic ego.
You don't know the history of our country? But then it's more the adults I'm talking about including young adults.
No, it isn't. In order for the US to have an official language, Congress must pass a constitutional amendment. What we have now is a de facto law, which isn't law at all.
History?? why are you living in the past? I've live in the present and kids today will NOT be working on farms.
Because they will earn more working in high tech, and getting bonuses and perks vs. working in the fields in 100 degree weather suffering heat stroke. Do I really have to explain this to you? I haven't seen Americans working in the fields for decades, and the one that does aren't the one doing the hard labor.
