So you're down for destroying the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial? Cool beans. You and your pals can borrow the back ho(e) after the Forrest desecrators are finished. Y'all think you'd wanna get a permit, or just start digging?
In fact, Trump easily beat The Clintons and their massive $Billion dollar political machine without running ads. The campaign was essentially an extended Trump family vacation. The saturation ads, the united anti-Trump MSM, and the united bipartisan corrupt political class - all rowing together could not tow The Clintons to victory. If Trump had bothered to run a few ads in the population centers he would have easily gained several million more irrelevant votes. He decided not to waste the money.
Sanger is responsible for the deaths of more Americans than anyone in history. Why should she be worshiped by having statues of her all across the country?
Dam. I should have bet on this... Bob's Big Boy = hate speech against fat people. Gotta come down, right?
Ya know, that may not be a bad idea after all. Waste taxpayer money moving them out when the Dems are in power, and waste more money bringing them back when the Reps take power back. Or - crazy idea - we could leave the statues alone rather than bowing to the threat of mob violence, people could grow up, and we can all learn from our shared history.
Ordinary Americans could easily work this out. Probably without removing the statues. Adding plaques to provide an historical perspective concerning the issues leading to civil war would be better, IMO, than removing them to museums under the threat of political violence and vandalism.
You could be right in all of your statements but does it really matter? The movement is growing and gaining ground. Even if it's slowed it may not die and it could come back stronger than ever in a few years. Then what? The problems are that the average person is ignorant about American and world history and human psychology. As an example with the graveyards and the Confederate flags on the gravestones Congress made all of the Confederate soldiers US military veterans in 1958. So sure, their gravestones depict a different flag but so do the gravestones from 1812 (if there are any). But no one said any of that at that time. Therefore things accelerated. And as a group we simply don't know if this is a legitimate organic domestic movement or if it's being directed by foreign or domestic enemies. We have no idea how many layers are in the onion. It could be a combination of everything. But one thing is for sure and that is that it will not die. When you have people like Romney and an ex-Governor of Mississippi saying that the statues must go it indicates a major change in society. It's a new era. It might be good or it might be bad but the old society is dying and a new one is being born. That's reality in 2017 America.
There's at least 36 holocaust museums scattered across America. https://www.mapsofworld.com/usa/usa-maps/holocaust-museums.html I would rather visit a Confederate statue that depicts a traitor to America than visit a holocaust musem. BTW, there were streets named after Hitler in America. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/pro...d-america-gallery-1.2827185?pmSlide=1.2827176
The title of this thread should be "62% of 1125 people interviewed think confederate statues should remain. We don't know the geographical area where this survey was made".
These people mostly did not own slaves but, were more loyal to their States as their nation. It is that simple. Before the War Between the States These United States of AmericaAfter the War Between the States The United States of America. See / feel the diff. Think in their times.
Another one bites the dust! Crews Remove Taney Statue From Maryland State House Overnight August 18, 2017 12:11 PM http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2017/...emove-taney-statue-from-maryland-state-house/ "ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ/AP) — A statue of the U.S. Supreme Court justice who wrote the 1857 Dred Scott decision that upheld slavery and denied citizenship to African Americans was removed from the grounds of the Maryland State House early Friday morning. The statue of Roger B. Taney was lifted away by a crane at about 2 a.m. It was lowered into a truck and driven away to storage. The bronze statue was erected in 1872, just outside the original front door of the State House."
did you say the same about the Saddam statues being torn down? you can definitely take down, move them or whatever the tax payers do not have to fund public memorials like these or fly confederate flags on state capitals, ect....
I think you have it backwards, the white supremacists are like the Saddam supporters in this one and who was the ones running people over with a car this weekend over this, seems pretty ISIS like to me, might want to reconsider the side your on before telling others they are the Taliban on this one
