Dogs or cats? Lets get divisive ;)

They can be quite amazing at times.

My favorite cat died once - apparently got into something poisonous somehow. I was heartbroken. She was a very special cat. We had another cat that had a crush on the one that died [seriously!]. Normally he never came to my office - a separate building on the property. But he came down, sat right next to me, and mourned the loss of our other cat with me for three days. Then he went back to the house and continued with his normal routine.

 

My old dog is buried in our back yard. Our current dog (german shep) goes out and sits right by where he's buried all the time. Just sits and stares.

 

Wow.

I'm getting depressed.

Honestly, I still feel the loss of every pet I've ever had. And that's a lot! At one point we ended up with 3 dogs and 4 cats that were all about the same age. They all lived to be 13-15 yo. They all died within two years of each other. It was devastating.

 

Cats are stupid.

There. I said it. It feels good to get that off my chest, I've been carrying it around forever.

Dogs 4 Life yeahy yeahy.

We have one of those burial plots in our backyard too. The guys poured a slab and put his name in copper and birthday and death date on the slab. He was more like a member of the family than a dog. Matter of fact he was nicer than most people. He was one of those dogs that everyone loved and he left people with a smile on their face.

 

We have a squirrel here people call it a fox squirrel. He is larger than the usual squirrels and is one of nature's clowns. He has a lope rather than the usual fast squirrel run. He will run up the tree and climb around so he can get a better look at what made him run up the tree.

 

Yeah I love watching the squirrels and quail run around over here.

There's nothing funnier than a line of quail chicks following their mother.

 

Circle of life bro.

 

I was riding in the gator and started going down an embankment when I saw this quail that refused to move, I stopped to look closer and she was standing bravely to let her babies go ahead of her. It was one of those God smile moments. Those babies might have been as big as a quarter if that they were tiny little things.

 

Oh yeah, mama quail will get all up in your grill.

 

She was something to see; she stood so still, patient and determined. It was a memory to recall and smile about very special. People could learn a lot from animals if they would take the time.

We have both as well. Dogs are a Jack and the other is a shepherd/lab/pit mix. Then a few weeks ago we acquired 2 baby kittens and the kittens run the show

 

You mean they didn't expect it was going to get bigger with maturity? Okay! Incidentally I'm not 'hateful and bitter', just intolerant of idiots.

 

I know, that why I qualified it with the 'word' often; I seldom generalise. If I do generalise I always use the word 'all'.

 

That's very poignant, AS. How do you think I felt when I had to personally put down one of my Brunos (he was an RAF police alsatian (as I've written on here a couple of times - my first one was called Bruno too, coincidentally), and after two years in Gibraltar of my being his handler he'd become too old to do the job in the tropical climate; he began getting fatigued during patrols in the summer months. And his disposal was even more traumatic for me.

 

I stand corrected, wasn't trying to critic your comment I was commenting on my own experiences. People you wouldn't dream of being animal abusers are some of the worst. I came in contact with one of them and now have no use for that person. He wasn't the trailer trash type but I placed him lower than the lowest of mankind.

 

What seriously annoys me are the macho cretins who, of all the breeds available, choose to get the more unstable terrier types, then when the dog bites or attacks - or worse? - turns round and says' Well he's never bitten anyone before.' Jesus, what the hell have they got inside their heads if it isn't a brain

 

I have both but my experience is the opposite. My dog is old so she is more, "Feed me. Walk me. Leave me to my nap" and the cats are younger so they are more, "Whatcha doing? Whatcha Doing? Here let me stand on your keyboard/counter/shoulder and meow until you rub my ears, Human Servant." I am more naturally inclined to dogs, but the cats more or less came with the property.

 

They are young which often means ignorant of consequences. So, in a way, no, they didn't foresee the issues that would occur a year in the future. OTOH, some people are just stupid just like some are hateful and bitter.

Terrier?

 

Border collies hands down for the best dog around. Smarter than some people and loyal to a fault. Love my border collie.

 

People walk around and pick up their dog's poop.

And you think cats are stupid?

 

My one cat used to bring me breakfast everyday. Every morning there was a yummy vole waiting for me next to my chair. I pretended to eat it so he felt appreciated.

 

I'd rather pick that up that sift through a sand box that burns the air you breathe.

Cats are just waiting for you to fall asleep so they can gnaw your legs off anyway
