We have one of each that we're "watching" for our daughter. The cat (undetermined breed) has been here for 6 years. The Boston terrier one.

Not complaining though. Several acquaintances are raising their grandchildren.

    Terrier!

And as I've already told you, I'm not 'hateful and bitter'.

    1) There are a lot of terrier breeds. That dog is more commonly known as a "pit bull". They are good dogs: http://dogtime.com/dog-breeds/american-pit-bull-terrier#/slide/1
    AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a companion and family dog breed. Originally bred to “bait” bulls, the breed evolved into all-around farm dogs, and later moved into the house to become “nanny dogs” because they were so gentle around children. Their tenacity, gameness, and courage make them popular competitors in the sports of weight pulling, agility, and obedience competition....

....The bull breeds are often grossly misunderstood. The qualities that make these dogs tenacious players in obedience and agility games also attract highly unscrupulous people looking for strong competitors for their dog fighting rings. The sorry result is that bull breeds, in particular the APBT, have gained a reputation over recent years for being dangerous.

Nothing could be further from the truth. But rampant misinformation and fear caused by the actions of a minority of dogs kept by criminally negligent people have provoked legislation against the breed in a number of cities and countries around the world.

Your understanding of the breed displays ignorance and your bigotry toward something you clearly don't understand. You are letting your hate and bitterness drive your judgment.

    2) Disagreed on your self-assessment as proved above.

Always had cats and dogs but now just dogs. Miss my cats though I'm alergic to them now.

Cats are very complex creatures that tease our deepest imagination. In comparison, the dog appears not only simple, but also cheap and unelegant. Dogs don't think - they act solely on emotion and are quite shallow. Cats are philosophical animals that base all their decisions on intellect and are highly majestic.

    Lovecraft explains the difference excellently:
Or as the great comparison goes; cats dig down their own poop, whereas dogs dig up other's poop. :D

What superficial rationale. "AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER
The American Pit Bull Terrier is a companion and family dog breed."

Yep, the ideal 'pet' to look after your 4-year old while you pop down to the shops. Only someone with a financial interest, such as a breeder of those killer dogs, would write the above copy-and-pasted drivel, and you cite it as being substantive! [IMG]

I like doats (part dog, part cat).

Actually, I do not own any subservient quadrupeds.

An irrational fear is also known as a "phobia".

Personally, I prefer the labrador or shepherd breeds, but each to their own.

    http://pets.webmd.com/dogs/features/pit-bulls-safety
Doberman pinschers, rottweilers, and German shepherds topped lists of dogs some considered dangerous in the not-too-distant past....

...But pit bull advocates and some experts say the dogs get a bad rap. They say the dogs are not inherently aggressive, but in many cases suffer at the hands of irresponsible owners drawn to the dog's macho image who encourage aggression for fighting and protection.

Visual on the breeding that equals a 'doat'. Entertaining, but someone is gonna get hurt in the process! :D

If you call them 'subservient', then you've been dealing with the wrong cats.

What makes them uniquely dangerous is their biting force.

They do have a strong biting force, but if a dog isn't aggressive toward people, it's a moot point.

I never realized how expensive owning a dog was until I had to buy a truck to chauffer the dog around in because he wasn't allowed in the cars. Bought him a Ford Ranger cause really, how much truck does a 60 lb. dog really need?

I love both cats & dogs, but cats are more suitable to our lifestyle. Our four cats have unique personalities. One of them plays fetch. He's a blast!

I'd love to get a dog, but we need to be more settled, first. The cats can manage themselves for a weekend. A dog, not so much.

As someone once posited - dogs have owners, cats have staff. It's true, too. Cats have rules. (I'm not allowed to have a beverage on my desk, for example.)

Dogs behave like barbaric peasants. Cats behave like gentlemen/ladies. Every human always look at the cat with great envy because the cat possesses something we lack and exactly what this is, is beyond our understanding.

I worship cats for their elegance and class. I worship cats because they always remain unbroken and always go their own way - a cat won't let anyone govern them.

I like dogs too. They are loyal and beautiful creatures with outstanding EQ. However, they are nowhere near as mystical and elegant as are cats. Dogs drewl, they appear clumpsy and simple-minded.

    Sincerely

That's friggen awesome! :D My cats goes with me on walks. Seriously, it follows me wherever I go. (But, obviously not too far. It won't leave it's territory). Sometimes, when I am out walking the neighbourhood, I'll hear a desperate "meow" behind me and turn around to see my cat scream "wait for me, not so fast!" Peculiar creatures, indeed. :)

Best alarm-clocks in the world too. It is impossible to snooze when the cat needs to go out for a pee/poop. I've tried sleeping through it, but things get worse the more you snooze; at first, he will gently headbutt and push me. If that doesn't work, he'll, gently, take out his claws and, slowly, escalate from there. I used to have a bureau next to my bed and the darn cat used to jump up on it and from there, he would jump right onto me with full force.

I recognise that, for sure. :)

And it's also means something which is unlikely to happen. How many babies and toddlers have you heard of who were ripped to shreds by such dogs? It happens all the time here in the UK. And if you still insist on engaging me even after I've asked you not to, please stop with the copy&pasting because I'm not interested in the opinions of somebody I don't know, nor have the ability to challenge.

It isn't a moot point if you get attacked.

I had a neighbor who had a huge bull mastiff. It escaped one day and I found myself face to face with a dangerous and obviously hostile dog. I even posted about it here because it was a very close call. I've been around dogs most of my life, including large dogs, and this situation was bad. I was in fear for my life. I think I could take a bull mastiff but wouldn't want to try. It wouldn't be pretty. I managed to back him down long enough to get to my door, by showing myself to be the alpha and calling him down. But he was right on the verge of attacking the whole time.

A few days later he got out again. But this time he attacked and maimed a child who was standing right next to her father.

Cat scratch fever is nothing to mess with you have to take antibiotics to get rid of it.

We (collectively? I personally am doing nothing!) are allowing the neanderthals among us to acquire killer dogs.

Don't make pathetic excuses - the sort of moronic lifeforms who, of all the breeds, choose the mastiffs are too dumb to even know the meaning of 'responsibility to others',never mind the responsibilities of ownership.
