That's not exactly what either one of them said. Go back and read their quotes, their *full* quotes. The NRA recommended referring the issue to the BATF. The BATF can't ban a gun.

Actually under the 2nd you *can* have tanks and F-16s. Here's a picture of a tank at an Arizona machine gun shoot:

    http://mgshooters.com/Gallery.php?dir=12 Fall 2011

All you have to do is go through the process, e.g. get a tax stamp and pass an extended background check.

The SCOTUS does not decide what firearms we can have. In fact, while Congress did pass a firearm ban for a short period of time it was *NOT* Constitutional. Another ban today would be overturned by SCOTUS.

Because of the 2nd all the government can do is specify what process we must go through in order to obtain the firearm.

They fire the same caliber. They are both semi-automatic. They both use 5, 10, 20, and 30 round magazines. They both come with iron sights. They are functionally the same.

The Sig Sauer p938 and the Ruger LC9 are *functionally* the same. Function is not operation.

The AR-15 was designed specifically for offensive military combat. It has no other use. That is why it's a military weapon. People who say they use it for hunting are morons. The gun jams too much, and is expensive to maintain. I prefer Savage Model 10, much better for hunting.

    Go read Fed Paper 29:

"The attention of the government ought particularly to be directed to the formation of a select corps of moderate extent, upon such principles as will really fit them for service in case of need. By thus circumscribing the plan, it will be possible to have an excellent body of well-trained militia, ready to take the field whenever the defense of the State shall require it. This will not only lessen the call for military establishments, but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens. This appears to me the only substitute that can be devised for a standing army, and the best possible security against it, if it should exist."

The FF's *did* expect the citizenry to have arms to stand against a federal government that could be a danger to the liberties of the people!

If u get a mini 14, buy it used. Ruger supported the failed 2012 ban because it got rid of nearly every semi-auto rifle except for the mini. Ruger makes great guns... but dont give them ur money. They are bad politics.

Ok not overthrow but keep it in check and don't allow them to abuse their power. Look at the helpless people in the UK to see a society without guns.

"MSNBC SAYS AR-15 IS A "MILITARY" RIFLE"

Of course it's a military rifle.

Yeah, let's see you use a bolt-action Model 10 with a 4 round capability on a feral sow with eight half-grown pigs and kill them all! For if you don't get them all next year you could have 30 more pigs!

I want to see you throw your Model 10 behind the seat of a pickup and grab it a month later to take out a coyote in a field.

My AR-15 sits behind my headboard for self-defense. At night the flash suppressor doesn't blind you nearly as bad as any pistol I own. And the wife can handle the AR-15 for a second shot because of the light recoil. Something she can't do with my pistols.

The AR-15 is *NOT* a military rifle. It is not a battle rifle, it is of insufficient caliber. It is totally lacking as an assault rifle because it has no full auto fire needed to provide suppressive fire when assaulting a position.

There is no functional difference between a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle and an AR-15. No one would recognize a Mini-14 as a military rifle! Yet the Mini-14 has been a go-to rifle for ranchers and farmers for decades!

Is a Mini-14 a military rifle? They are functionally the same - exactly!

You can say that any two semi automatic rifles that have close to the same caliber are functionally the same.

They don't. They refer to it as a RANCH RIFLE.

This rifle is functionally similar to an AR-15. Same caliber, same firing rate, iron sights, same size magazines. No difference between this an AR-15.

*NO ONE* CALLS THIS A MILITARY RIFLE!

As long as they have the same magazine size and fire rate. So why are some "military assault rifles" and some are not?

Is this a military assault rifle?

When it is functionally the same as an AR-15 then isn't it also a military rifle?

Do you know *anyone* that would call this a military rifle?

Cosmetics does not make a military rifle! Functionality does. If a Mini-14 is not a military rifle then neither is an AR-15.

This is what the "don't take any firearms from us" crowd does. They answer with a question. They try to confuse the issue.

The point: The AR 15 is a military weapon. Not the point: What the Mini 14 is, or isn't.

NO, it does not have that at the top. It has "RUGER® MINI-14® RANCH RIFLE" at the top.

What link did you actually go to? The link itself says "mini14RanchRifle/models.html"

Now you are dissembling. The two weapons ARE THE SAME. You are trying to say that a yellow tennis ball is a tennis ball but a blue one is not! They are both functionally the same! They *are* both tennis balls!

Either the Mini-14 and the AR-15 are both military rifles or they are both *not* military rifles.

You are caught and are squirming like a worm on the hook!
