No it isn’t. The m2 ammo for the Garand is under powered compared to modern sporting ‘06 ammo but the 7.62x51 is as close to identical to .308 as you can get. Put modern ‘06 ammo in a garand and you will bend the op rod. Put modern .308 in any 7.62 an you won’t have a problem.

According to the uninformed it is. Paint it black and put some stuff on the accessory rails and it transforms into the same gun I used while kicking doors down in Afghanistan a few years ago.

True but do not forget that that the Federalist papers were not monolithic there were multiple opinions running.

Not what the sources I've seen on line say and not what my limited personal experience in basic showed me. But that was 69. I'm sure what they are loading now is better but the old original wasn't. I've fired every thing from a .22 long rifle to and old 8 gauge goose gun.

Please note I knew of almost no one in Viet Nam that used the semi auto setting. There is a reason we spent about 90k per enemy KIA as opposed to 30k in WWII and Korea.

Please note I almost never humped with my M16 on full auto, and rarely flicked the switch to auto in a fire fight. Maybe you had no fire discipline.

Except, for the bayonet lug the flash suppressor and in some cases the chrome receiver.

Which means diddly squat as far effectiveness in semi auto.

In fact post VN there were a lot of complaints about that very thing. I never took mine off of semi auto. But then again being a ballistic meteorologist I never saw combat. up close and personal except once. And that was over before I could shoot.

Which is why the M2 model and on had chrome recetvers that chrome receiver matters a good bit when you do fire full auto..

I had both. They switched out while I was there. I went through the gun jamming stuff, once with a VC only feet from me. So I know all about it.

Then if such is indeed the case, if the AR-15 is the exact same thing as the M16, other than one single component, there is no legitimate reason for the Tiahrt amendment to exist. There sale of all newly built machine guns to the public should be immediately implemented once again, since there is no functional difference between the AR-15 and the M16, and they are the exact same firearm.

It was pretty clear the Framers left changing our government up to the people. Something revolutionary at the time.

If it fires bullets and can kill someone, its very dangerous whether or not it is a rifle or pistol or shotgun. Gun huggers cannot be reasoned with and will make up any excuse in order to keep their armory fully stocked with weapons and ammunition.

Never heard of that happening with the old Remington tube load .22. So round the .223 ammo.

Oh and "whacking with a hammer" is not real smart with any weapon

I don't think anybody is debating whether or not guns are dangerous....

Okay; I got the impression that it was a part of the debate but I could be wrong on that.

Wow. I think you're the first person I've ever known to dislike the Mini 14. Mine shoots under water!

    But each to their own.

I like my m1-a national match and garand alot more. And prefer my colt sp1 if shooting 5.56. But i spend most of my time shooting on the bench with bolt actions. Find doing that relaxing.

I too like the bolt. I find it resets the mind and refocuses the attention on the target.

It's like a manual transmission - you feel a certain connection.

The various guns I've had in my closet over the years were never dangerous to anyone that didn't wish to be a danger to me and those I love. By the way within fifteen to twenty feet I can kill you just as dead with a knife. I spent a lot of time practicing throwing knives when I was younger. By the way from your post it is clear that the hoplophobic are completely unreasonable, and almost totally irrational.

.22LR are not center fire rounds. A tube magazine for a center fire rifle would be disastrous. Drop it and the magazine explodes.
