    It's nice to hear birds in the morning. It is a great morning alarm clock.

    They are pretty quiet the rest of the day.

    Or more like the Movie version.
    Particularly when there are shows like - Bar Rescue - and no
    fooling around or monkey business Bar turnaround guys like
    Jon Taffer.Taffer hears even slight scuttlebutt about watering down
    a Bar's booze and he'd go off.You don't wanna tick off Jon Taffer.

    - Birdman of Alcatraz - { 1962 }
    Where them birdies were a chirpin' more than the average
    big Lotto winner come pay day.

    I am not a snob. I am content just watching the ice melt in the bar scotch. :)

    Scotch and cognac - just a few over the course of a year. Diet coke or water every day - heavy on the water - lite on the coke. A little lime or lemon juice and water is hard to beat.

    I have to be in a very mellow mood to fully enjoy cognac or whisky. That is usually when I am also in the mood for a cigar.

    FYI, brandy and its French equivalent cognac is the worst thing you can drink on this Earth -- more toxic alcohol byproducts than anything.

    Water is the most popular beverage in the world -- which I do not touch unless it is carbonated like club soda or tonic water.

    Tea is the second-most, which is my own #1. I make 1 1/2 quarts every day and drink it all.

    Milk is in 3rd, and my own 2nd. I like whole milk chilled very cold almost to freezing.

    Pinot Grigio is my 3rd.

    Pinot Noir is my 4th.

    Moonshine is my 5th.

    a liquor license is good for bad economies, when times are bad drinking goes up.

    when times are good drinking goes up too, so location, location, location.

    I never miss an opportunity to stare at the grocery carts of
    Grocery shoppers.I can literally predict their health based
    on what's in their cart.If their cart consists mostly of Soda pop
    and No bottled water,I can assume the worst about their longevity.
    Soda Pop is mainly Corn syrup.And sugar.2 very unhealthy things
    to consume on a daily basis.let alone an hourly basis.
    There's a reason that Willard Scott { former NBC weather man }
    used to daily celebrate Centenarian's { those 100 or over }.
    Most of those were very plain folk.Probably seldom smoked or
    drank.A lot of Schoolmarms and the like.
    The 2 worst things known to man are Soda pop and cigarettes.
    Do both on an hourly basis and live half as long.
    That's practically written in stone.

    Pure Poppycock.Cognac is The most disciplined and controlled
    Libation in the history of hard Liquor.It has a vaunted history and
    therefore what is known in French parlance as { Appelation }.
    Meaning what distinct district in France has authority to Distill
    into Cognac.Which is made from Grapes { not Corn or other
    inferior grains }. Plus Cognac is a Double distillation in special
    copper pots { stills }. It requires much handed down expertise to blend
    by special master blenders.
    There's a reason it costs so much.It is The most special and time
    consuming of all the spirits with an extremely rich and valued
    history.Of course it is also an acquired taste.
    If Cognac was what you say,then why do The World's finest
    chefs have a bottle or 2 in their Kitchen.For Cooking.
    Like Bourbon the barrels used or casks are specially made
    { how about 100 year old trees from the forest of Limousin and Tron }
    But not so fast that wood is then open aged in air for a minimum
    of 3 years.Plus ALL Cognac is 80 proof.No exceptions.
    However they did make One exception recently with an 86 proof.
    That was the standard proof of Jim Beam for years.I bought every
    bottle I could of the stuff.I have left only about a 1/3 rd of a pint bottle
    left.It is a tad stronger than normal V.S. cognac.
    Cognac is also designated either { V.S. } or { V.S.O.P }
    or { X.O. } depending on the age of the cognacs blended.
    Furthermore to guarantee a quality product by French Law
    the Stills used are limited to small capacity to ensure a slow
    and precise distillation.
    Any questions ?

    Good morning all! The cold front came through North Texas, but not a drop of rain where I live. :( Tomorrow night we'll see temps drop below freezing. First time this year.

    I'm headed north for work where it's definitely colder: Sioux Falls, SD. Brrrrrr.

    Location is the key, colder climates have more drinking.
