The bottom line is that the winery doesn't want to hire US labor. Regardless of how documented these workers might be, the affect is the same for the American workforce. And, concentrations of workers with no ties here, no family, no health care, no licensing/insurance if they drive, no additional policing, no legal protection, etc., etc. - it's hard to argue this is better than undocumented labor.
I find "right wing socialists" to be offensive. There's no such thing. It's a gross contradiction in terms.
Part of the left’s long term strategy is the redefining/blending the meaning of words. Illegal and immigration are blended to simply immigration.
Nobody is in favor of illegal immigration. Nobody. I'd point out that we even give amnesty to thieves. And, nobody is in favor of that, either. What's happening in the OP is that Republicans are making a distinction without a difference. A worker doesn't really care whether the low paid, no-rights foreign worker they are competing against has had the magic wand of legality waved over them. They still won't get the job!
I don't have any rabid hate, but what is wrong with the scenario is that Trump is choosing to hire foreigners in preference to hiring Americans. Completely the opposite of what he preached as a candidate and as President.
I hope one brave soul becomes the test case and sues the ever loving **** out of California, and the people who passed this law personally.
Guest worker programs aren't immigration. (At least if the worker actually leaves after having come here legally.) In general, guest worker programs are used to depress wages. Plus, they leave the community to pick up externalities of such populations.
Where did you get this idea? Generally the way it works is a company takes resumes and works toward hiring a large number of people that they feel meet their qualifications. A portion of these people (23) would require guest permits while the rest would be citizens. Do you have evidence they are not hiring citizens?
Or could the problem be that Trump CANT DECIDE HOW OTHER PEOPLE HIRE FOR THEIR BUSINESS! He does not own it, he has no control of it, he is not involved. This is all just a lie made to get people riled up against Trump. This is why the Republicans even get a shot when Democrats feel they have to lie just like Trump to succeed. Oh and you are assuming that they have not tried to hire Americans and been turned down.
lol Hiring an American doesn't mean you get a free pass to hire outside the legal domestic work force.
It's been pointed out that the winery is in the family. Can you cite disproof of that? Or did you just pop off?
Doesn't he own it? Isn't it in a trust for him? When he set up the trust he could have - should have - instructed to hire American. Saying he isn't in control is a cop-out. He had complete control until it went into a trust, and there is no doubt he could instruct Eric to hire American now if he wanted to. But he doesn't want to. He wants to maximise his profits at the expense of American workers.
Which is why they need visas to enter the country legally, so they can be vetted and tracked in some manner. It's still a legal process that requires background checks and other such processes, unlike illegal immigration. They depress wages only if they are used to fill jobs that Americans are applying for. If there are a dearth of citizens applying for those jobs, then there is no harm filling them with temporary workers.
Crooked Donnie is known to hire both, but in this case I am posting about another broken campaign promise by Crooked Donnie.
I don't recall Trump ever saying, let alone preaching, that it is wrong to hire (legal) foreign workers.
