I would respect your words over any published study, in your own words, tell me why you are correct, I am more willing to accept that over slick studies that do not pass casual scrutiny.
It's what I have said all along. Unless we as a society are willing to delve deep within our society to discover the motivation, the reasons, the root cause for these mass killings, more gun control laws is nothing more than putting a band aid over a wound that needs a tourniquet. Gun control laws are easy, they make whomever proposes them, backs them feel good without really addressing the underlying problem. Unless one is willing to tackle the motivation behind these mass killings, shootings, do something to alleviate that motivation the tools used will change even if there are no guns. The killings will continue, from guns to knives to what, bombs, arson, machetes.
Yes. The UK government has a long history of covering up its crime crisis. “The admission came as the Government reported a 22 per cent yearly rise in the most serious violent incidents, spanning murder, attempted murder, manslaughter and severe assaults. In a supplement to its quarterly crime figures, the Home Office said that 13 forces had for years been under-reporting the number of cases of Grievous Bodily Harm with intent.” TELEGRAPH, Serious violent crime under-reported for a decade Police forces have been failing to properly record serious violent crime for more than a decade, the Home Office has said., By Jon Swaine, 23 Oct 2008. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukn...iolent-crime-under-reported-for-a-decade.html
No, I'm sneering about a ridiculous survey of random people that purports to capture an accurate grasp of the totality of crime. All you're doing is getting some opinions. As for the whole "conspiracy against reporting crime", the hilarity there is that the ONS figures exist BECAUSE they claim the police reporting of crime is intentionally misleading. Asking 1 in 1300 Brits about crime, regardless of how much you overuse the words "intellectual" and "quantitative analysis", is an opinion poll. Nothing more, and nothing less. Enjoy the knife control. I'm sure it'll work.
Indeed. We also didn't have people jumping curbs with rental vans and mowing down dozens of people either. Will we have "van control" in Canada to go along with "knife control" in the UK?
How long will we have to wait for an Acid Ban? "According to data from the Metropolitan Police in London, 454 acid attacks were reported in 2016. This is a huge increase ( >173%) from the 261 reported attacks in 2015, and almost triple the number of attacks reported in 2012." CNN,There were more than 450 acid attacks in London last year, By AJ Willingham and Muhammad Darwish, Fri July 14, 2017. https://www.cnn.com/2017/07/14/europe/acid-attacks-london-numbers-trnd/index.html
Knife Crime !!! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.te...combs-young-women-promoted-via-instagram/amp/ A woman poses with a 'hidden comb blade' sold by Alien Outfitters, among many knives disguised as ordinary items
There are no "no go" zones in Europe! We just have some places we stay out of cuz grenades and stuff.
LoL you can make a shiv out of a piece of plastic! They can't even keep knives out of their hands in PRISON. Oh man this is going to be hilarious.
Moar knife crime ! Ghastly business ! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8451877.stm Is it illegal for Myleene Klass to wave a knife at intruders? WHO, WHAT, WHY? The Magazine answers... Myleene Klass, a TV presenter, claims she was warned by police for waving a knife after spotting intruders in her garden, but is there any way such an action could be against the law? Klass's fiance was away on business Celebrity Myleene Klass was in the kitchen of her house in Hertfordshire when she saw young men who she didn't know in her garden. Her reaction was instantaneous. She picked up a knife, banged on her kitchen window and waved the knife at them before they fled. She was, according to her spokesman, later warned by police officers that carrying an "offensive weapon" was illegal in her own home. The allegation is vehemently denied by Hertfordshire Police, but it raises the question of whether this could be an offence in England. The story comes at a time of heated debate about whether the law should be changed to make absolutely clear what action householders can take against burglars and other intruders on their property. But did Klass break the law?
I highly doubt it. If these advocates of gun control really wanted to curb the violence, the killing they would be searching for what motivates or the root cause of these killings and violence. It's as if they don't give a dang about the motivation or the cause, just ban guns. Let the killings and violence continue by other means, no problem. Let's just get rid of guns.
There are only two items in the UK you can have legally for self defense. One is a rape whistle, and one is a dye bottle.
This is something the Anti Gun people refuse to address, why make the street safer for Rapists and Molesters ? Why not let Women have knives ? Knives are offensive weapons ? Don't these Men have Wives and Daughters and other Female Relatives ?
Sure, as long as the whistle does not make an attacker deaf, or the dye blind an attacker, lol, they protect the criminals more than law abiding subjects of the Crown.
That's exactly it. It's not about preventing crime, it's about controlling the populace so that they don't have the capacity to threaten the state. High crime is beneficial to the state. It makes the citizens give more power and authority to the government in exchange for the hope of safety. That's the idea behind welfare and "gun control". Once you're dependent on the state, and have no means to resist, they can do whatever they want.
Much of the world has been conditioned to believe that the government will keep them safe, and they truly believe that until it's too late. They mentally reject the possibility that they could ever be an actual victim, they just don't deal with it at all and pretend the possibility doesn't exist. You see it here all the time on this very board. "If someone breaks in they probably won't hurt me anyway", "I'll just call the police", "I'll yell and my neighbor will come help me". They're delusional.
Is this the same way that you respect the other fellow's claim that there is an intellectual conspiracy?
You might ask ONS why they're claiming the police have an intellectual conspiracy. It is why they exist, after all.
That you call a victimisation survey 'opinion' merely shows how innocent you are regarding research. And let's not forget: this isn't about being pro or anti gun. The likes of Kleck would certainly recognise that data- without consistent definition or reporting- cannot be used for robust time series analysis. ONS provide both figures. Its just factual to note that the official figures aren't used for time series analysis. Repetition of ignorance over Statistics. Why do pro-gunners think ignorant comments work? Is it part of the post-truth society? Check out our homicide rates dear chap!
How can you respect honesty when you have supported the nonsensical view that there is an intellectual conspiracy?
