Oddly enough the people that really are A-Moral are also the ones bent on Proving us mere Animals and free of any accountability and this is the true reason for Mass Killings.

You can't cease accountability and remain even remotely Humane, and if We really and truly are mere Animals then all is lost and even a 100 % Gun ban will be totally worthless.

That would really explain why People are so very crappy as of late.

It is a fallacy to assume that animals are immoral and/or amoral.

Is this thread some sort of stupidity contest? If so then we have a serious contender here. Feels like it was part of another rant that made a break for freedom and only got as far as this thread.

What is it about being animals that makes us free of accountability? We have consciousness, we have intelligence (well, most of us), we have reason (ditto), we no longer have the excuse the 'God told me it was OK' (or we should). Therefore we have responsibility for our actions. Not that hard really.

Belief in Gods has never been much of an impediment to mass murder, mass rape, slavery & a list of evils as long as your arm. In fact, many of the worst mass murders in history have been at the hands of fervent believers. The belief that humans are a species of animal hasn't made us any worse. In fact, as societies we are more focused on the well being of humans now than ever before.

Your country has so many mass murders because you make it so incredibly easy for people who are damaged or angry to take out their frustrations in the first person. Obviously you find it easier to blame biologists.

Hardly, Biologists were not even hinted at
Neither was Jesus or Religion, simply put, from
A purely Secular non Religious Atheistic point of view,
When we rid ourselves of complete Accountability, that is when things go south and really crappy,
Mass shootings and the like, because most people hate accountability more than anything else.

    Stupid is as Stupid does.

Not only are you completely & deliberately denying the very obvious context of your statements, but you are offering nothing but 'because I say'. Humans have accountability for their own actions AND things are less 'crappy' now than they have been at any time when no one believed we were 'animals'.

Like I said, you are just ranting.

Good, then rant I must, because total and completely Autonomous secular accountability is the most hated topic ever, and the least mentioned.

Animals do have cognitive functionality and therefore are NOT amoral by your own statement above.

Examples of the animal morality exist all around us.

Nice, an opinion bit as Science,

But while some animals have complex emotions, they don't necessarily have true morality, other researchers argue.

    There is the Rub,
My Dog as much as I loved him, and he never bit a single person til the day he died, was as close to being a Moral creature but no cigar,
Why, the total lack of Morality eliminates completely grey area or duplicity, so the absence of Morality really is Superior in brilliant simplicity and lack of guile hence, unconditional love, something impossible to humans, yet Dog's have it in spades, OTOH, pigs are actually smarter than Dog's but will eat your face off of given half a chance.
They also poop where they eat in spite of how smart they are, Chimps and Gorillas far outstripe Dogs as far as Intellect and are also far more lethally brutal.
Higher cognitive function makes Us more potentially Brutal and homicidal not the other way around.
Animals simply lack the sophistication to be truly Evil.

    You are anthropomorphizing morality.

Morality is a Darwinian survival adaption. Any lion in a pack could kill and eat any other lion but instead their socialization ensures that they are better able to survive as a group than as individuals. As a group their morality is such that they do not fight each other or kill and eat the young. They even care for other young and will defend other young from outside predators regardless as to whether they are their own or not.

    https://listverse.com/2016/07/12/10-amazing-displays-of-animal-empathy/

Plenty of other examples in that link.

The scientific research is ongoing but there is no question that animals do have morality.

They might not pontificate about it and place it on a pedestal and preach about how they are "more moral" than others but they definitely do PRACTICE morality.

No, I certainly did nothing of the kind,
Far from it as I clearly stated Animals are A-Moral.

You are the only one clearly making Anthropomorphic assertions,
Animals have no real morality, just a complete and total absence of malice.
Certainly not morality by any means.

I didn't think that you would understand what I meant. We humans are animals and we are anthropomorphizing our own "morality" into something greater than what it actually is in reality.

Our morality is no different to that of other animals because it stems from the exact same source. It is a biological survival trait that we share with other animals.

Anthropomorphizing is quite simply Ascribing Human qualities to Animals.

    I have not done that.

Neither have I added any greatness to human Morality.

Actually that it is exactly what you are doing. We are animals and morality is a quality that animals have so you are attempting to allege that human morality is somehow "greater" than it is in other animals without any shred of evidence to support your allegation.

The difference that separates man from the rest of the animal kingdom is sapience - a product of the evolution of homonid brain.

We are not "mere" animals. We are full fledged members of the terran pyramid of life who just happen to sit at the very tippy top of that pyramid. We are the planets sole sapient life form.

Animals can feel compassion, they can altruistically defend others, they can grieve their dead, they can play, they can cry, they can love, they can teach and they can learn. We share biology and that is a fact that cannot be denied regardless of how uncomfortable or contradictory to scriptures that reality might be to some.

    *****************

I have tried to have empathy, to be polite, nice, and it has all failed.

I am a healthcare professional, and an ethical person, in my youth, I learned a sad tough lesson about human nature.

I have taken the requisite college classes in psychology, and am sufficiently qualified in such matters.

Now either you are lying, or you fathom not your imposture.

Anthropomorphisisim is the idea animals have human principles or morality which they do not.
I have never said such things, you have.
Desist from distortion of what I believe etc.

What I have said is animals are A-Moral, and they are, they do have hardwired aspects that include love, they care for pups in ways that challange humans.

I repeat, I have never stated a superiority of human morality nor have I indicated that animals possess morality.

Humans are not animals in this sense, we are morally responsible for our own actions, we have a moral compass, we have qualities that equip us to function in human society ,
Animals do not use fire, or have an opposable thumb, and higher brain functions that permit fine manual dexterity and complex articulation.

Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human characteristics to animals, gods and things.

are you at all familiar the science of sociobiology? I believe much of our morality is derived from our sapient interpretation of many of those "hardwired" behaviors.

I believe animals have "bio morality". There are plenty of instances of social animal groups ostracizing burdensome members, just like moral humans do. There are many clear lines of social behavior in these groups with repercussions for crossing them. What they don't have is sapience. We are the only animals that can develop, respond and deal with such abstract motivations for our actions.

    jus sayin

    Obviously you insist on lying.
Animals have no real morality and do not make judgments.

So, it is apparent you have secret access to the animal mind Mr. DoLitttle. Could you please ask my dog why she seems to care about her sister and not so much about the bitch next door?
    Perhaps you can explain this:

No, I can read, and part of my medical education involved laboratory work and a rather nice P.h.d. researcher I was rather smitten with, gave me insight into the matter as part of an animal behavior study involving dogs etc... Hence my interest in behaviour studies.

Your cheeky retort gives insight, refer to the highlighted, that the b next door may not be the only b in your post.

You do understand the terminology used for a female dog...correct? I also note you had no reply to my providing video documentation of an "Animal" showing both morality and decision making, as well as intelligence, compassion, perseverance and obvious ability.
