Nope, the accord isn't based on trust. Bet you haven't even bothered to read it.

I didn't say the agreement was based on trust, I said you trusted the Iranians not to cheat!

I kind of suspected France Germany and the UK would go along with Trump one way or another.

    Iran's response seems realistic

    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/2...ementary-agreement-to-save-iran-nuclear-deal/

Which is obviously the intention. By penalising Iran in the first paragraph I assume they mean destroy Iran and whenever the US was ready to do that that is exactly what it would say Iran had done and then The UK, France, Germany would all say they had proof this was so but couldn't show us and the US and them, pretending they are holier than thou, would destroy Iran and her people. Meanwhile Israel will be laughing as they finish their annexation of the West Bank with the US Embassy in Jerusalem and Jerusalem being the undivided capital of Israel.

It is the US and Israel who are cheating. The US is going against International law and allowing Israel to take the rest of historic Palestine and of course Israel is doing it.

According to everybody concerned about that weapons agreement,.. it's Iran who complies.
And the US seems to going to break it.

    So who is unreliable now?

Iran has no Jews to speak of and ever had more than 15-18%. Pakistan has what? 1,000 Jews?

    And both are not democracies.

I do not think the charges that the US is supposedly going against international law as it relates to Israel has much of anything to do with Iranian nuclear weapons ban compliance!

That's because Israel pays them to leave that country. And probably give them a house as well, when they do.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A new U.S. intelligence report says Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and it remains on hold, contradicting the Bush administration’s earlier assertion that Tehran was intent on developing a bomb.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...on-iran-nuclear-program-idUSWBT00801220071203

Iran first approached the Bush Administration in confidence, in February 2002.

What Bush did was violate Iran's confidences and use the information for propaganda and disinformation purposes.

The US also meddled in Iran in 1979.

In 1977, the Shah approached US Ambassador Bill Sullivan and advised him that he had pancreatic cancer, and that he intended to abdicate. The Shah specifically requested Sullivan's help to obtain visas for himself and his family to enter the US to seek medical treatment.

As Sullivan noted, both he and the Shah came to the conclusion that Khomeini would ultimately end up in control.

With that in mind, Sullivan opened up back-door negotiations with Khomeini who was living in Paris, France at the time. Sullivan used the Brits as go-betweens to arrange the meetings, and the Brits used their contacts in Kuwait to facilitate the meetings.

The negotiations went well, and after nearly 18 months, Sullivan and Khomeini were ready for a face-to-face meeting, but it never happened.

The French DGSE became suspicious of the activity surrounding Khomeini and discovered US intentions. In an attempt to get their man, the Ayatollah Ruhollah ,a chance to gain power in Iran, the French leaked word of the Shah's impending abdication to Ruhollah's supporters at a mosque in Tabriz.

The result of that leak of information led to an ever increasing number of public protests and demonstrations, as various ayatollah's jockeyed for power. Instead of simply abdicating as he should have done, the Shah attempted to suppress the demonstrations.

Sullivan flew back to White House, and along with Al Haig (the Army Chief of Staff who actually lived in Iran for 3 years), pleaded with Carter to throw support behind Khomeini.

Instead, Carter took the advice of his idiotic neo-con advisors Gary Sick and Zbigniew Brzezinski, sending General Huyser to Iran to convince the Iranian army commanders to initiate a military coup.

That, is an Act of War upon the people of Iran.

Khomeini naturally thought that Sullivan and the US had been playing him the whole time, and seeing how the US attempted to murder Prime Minister on three separate occasions, before arresting Mossadeq and trying him in a kangaroo court, wisely cut ties with the US and drew a hard line.

And, then, of course, Khomeini summarily executed the head of SAVAK (the State secret police that tortured and murdered Iranian people) and seven of the army commanders who stupidly followed General Huyser's advice. And worse than that, he replaced all of the lower level commanders, which left the Iranian army without capable leaders when Iraq attacked Iran a year later (with US military advisors assisting Iraq).

Had Carter followed the advice of Sullivan and Haig, Iran would be an ally today, instead of an "enemy."

He is the Director General of the IAEA, used to be Director of the Nuclear Energy Division decades ago,... from Japan. So he knows what nuclear bombs do.
And he's a real somebody. His opinion matters.
You're a nobody. Your opinion is irrelevant.

Very nice one-sided commentary....I'm sure there's a market for it somewhere, but what has any of it to do with Iranian compliance as it regards the signed accord?
