So ... he does not like moonshine.

    I love moonshine.

It is like vodka only double strength (i.e., pure).

On vacation with relatives at Emerald Isle, NC...about 25 miles north of Camp Lejeune. Great the first two days, but now two days of rain and overcast skies. Yesterday we went to the North Caroline Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. Great for the kids and fun for the adults too. Later went to a local seafood restaurant.

Depending on how many times you distill your vodka, you eventually have to cut it with pure water.

Moonshine is made from corn. You don't cut it.

Vodka is made from potatoes. About 30,000 Russians dies from vodka poisoning every year. This is because they do not distill it enough.

Apparently the potatoes have something in them that kills people unless you distill it out almost to pure purity.

Just read about the 4 yr old who was washed out to sea while strolling in the surf with his mom in NC. Be careful out there. Esp with the subtropical storm moving in!

We did have a pretty good rip tide out here a couple of days ago. Obviously a 4 year old wouldn't know how to get out of one. I'm guessing didn't have life jacket on so he didn't last too long. A tragedy.

Yes the seas have been pretty rough the past few days. Some people have tried to brave them on surf and paddle boards. Most simply provided entertainment for those of us on the covered decks. :D

Most Vodka is Not made from Potatoes. But grains like
corn { cheapest Vodka } Rye or Wheat.
In France Vodka is distilled using grapes.
In Poland they use Potatoes but also Rye like my favorite
Vodka Belevedere which uses the finest Rye { Dankowskie gold rye }.
In the U.S. All vodka must be at least 40% abv.Like Cognac.
In the U.S. Vodka is distilled at 190 proof then cut with water.
In Europe Vodka need be 37.5 % abv in order to be classified as a Vodka.
In the Vodka Belt { Findland,Sweden,Poland,Lithuania,Estonia } only
spirits made from Potatoes of Grain as allowed to be labelled as Vodka.

Breakfast was a medium-sized, pre-packaged Greek salad and large americano at Boomtown casino.

    $11.00!!!

At least it's a decent salad and a decent americano.

I've been wanting to try Chick-fil-A for a while, now. I finally got the chance today, for lunch.

I appreciated that they had this:

NO ... actually the Constitution is rather straight forward on
this point. An American has a right to Free Speech.
That means at a White House Correspondence dinner a
comic can get up and spew outright hatefulness towards a
President or First Lady.Or wish someone cancer like Rush
Limbaugh.I don't agree with it,but it's guaranteed in the First
    Amendment.

I'm not a traditionalist. If i was to have cereal for lunch, it would be real oatmeal (with nothing added; at all; period; no, not even salt), or Grape nuts, or meusli (since I can't take a lot of milk, I use apple juice).

    LOL. My sister and brother-in-law.

Weather cleared up today and, except for a few isolated thunderstorms in the distant, it was a beautiful noon and afternoon. The storm surge that past couple days stirred up a lot of black seashells which I found at dawn this morning.

From "How to Read a North Carolina Beach".

"Black shells were not stained on the beach but instead came from the backside of a barrier island, where they were deposited in the oxygen-poor mud of a lagoon or sound. Under these conditions of low oxygen, the iron in the shells turns to iron sulfide, which gives them their black color. At some point after the staining occurs, the barrier island migrated over the old lagoon deposits, and eventually the shells arrived on the beach."

    My shells.

My guess is that some simple solution like Vinegar or
ammonia will bring back the original luster of those shells.
That would ne neat.I mean,it's not like some fossil.
