And liberaldom explodes. The forum comments at the WAPO are EPIC. Epic I say. The liberal hate seems boundless this morning.

For those not following yet, SCOTUS chose to let stand the Ohio voter purge rule that allows the state to remove folks after they fail to exercise their vote and after they have been notified, by the state that they are in jeopardy for removal if they fail to actually vote.

" "I am pleased that the United States Supreme Court agreed that Ohio was following federal law in maintaining accurate voter rolls," said a statement from Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine. "I congratulate our attorneys throughout this case for their exceptional work in documenting how this process used by Democrat and Republican secretaries of state is indeed lawful.""

Michigan I believe is the same way or use to be for sure, If you don't vote in 3 elections in a row than you are removed from the roles, seems fair to me.

It would seem so. I believe federal law is 2 federal elections. So states would need to be conformant to that. The comments sections of the liberal press are exploding right now. So much fun to watch. Better than HBO....:roflol:

I hope this idea spreads to every state in the Union along with voter ID. We can clean up our elections and deny those not eligible to vote from tainting the process.

Who knew that alleged voter disenfranchisement was such a non priority of the left on this board? Almost refreshing....

Honestly, I thought that the liberal folk on the boards would be incensed. How dare the Supreme Court rule that states could actually adhere to federal law and standards??

Of course that is the key to this ruling. And of course, the liberal justices all dissented because of the implications for federal immigration enforcement reasons....

Why should voter registration be "use it or lose it"? What is the benefit?

Being current. As in, your vote is counted in the right precinct and assigned to the right ballots. I know, tedious for sure, but failure to exercise the vote seems to demonstrate the indifference of the voter.

I recall this being one of the major efforts liberals/democrats campaigned on, as in, the "racism" of voter disenfranchisement. Laughable that now it's just a yawner for some who so vocally engaged previously.

Every citizen has THE RIGHT to choose not to vote if they don't support the candidates. This is essentially demanding people vote regardless of how they feel about the candidates. Which to me, is just forcing more of this 2-party bullshit down our throats.

Fine, and every government then also has a right to legislate how voters are to be registered. Do you deny this?

Two party system run by private companies.
    Closed primaries.
Election day on non-holiday week days.
    Registration purging.

God Bless America. Shouldn't the gov't make it as easy as possible to vote?

Let's dispense with the elephant in the room. Making voting more difficult has been a GOP goal for many years because it adversely affects minorities and the poor, both of which tend to vote democrat.

Nothing here demands that you vote for anyone/anything, only that you show up, receive a ballot, and cast that ballot. You can leave the entire thing blank.

Rights have responsibilities; one of your responsibilities as a voter is to keep your registration current.

Why should you have to do that? Your scenario is beyond silly.

Ohio GOP has to be loving this. This is basically disenfranchisement of those that rent, the indigent, workers that travel frequently, etc. The Supreme Court has now basically given a green light to a soft removal of voting rights, not just in Ohio but nationwide. Combine this with Citizens United and it isn’t hard to see a trend in our Republic which is a slow erosion of power of the individual voice. It’s pretty depressing, really.

If you are not voting or responding to your mail you have other issues.

There are 2.5 million voters registered in more than one county.
