Your title, your OP, and my subsequent response was directly about the tape. The girl memorized the number and the worker was preparing to call that number. I listened to the entire tape, and it didnt include the abject horror that you implied. From your description, I was at minimum expecting workers treating the kids harshly, and that is the exact opposite of what was occurring. They seemed to be doing everything in their power to assuage their fears.

Have you never been to a daycare facility? Kids cry. Are you next going to provide tapes of the first day of kindergarten?

Seeing as how most of the asylum seekers that make it here, come up through mexico where they are perfectly safe, making them not asylum seekers but economic migrants? I've got some idea. I've done quite a bit of charity work in mexico, which is where they were and where they were in no danger hence they're not really seeking asylum under its definition. You seek asylum in the first place you're safe.

 

You're right ... they are economic migrants. Asylum .. as it is internationally understood and 'legislated', is the first safe port.

BTW, the rest of your message is nonsense. The children were separated from their dad. What is heart-wrenching is that she needed to memorize a phone number because they fear being taken away. Above everything else, their dad took all the precautions to make sure that the children would be safe... no matter what happened to him. This is the type of sad situation that a heartless Trump loyalist would never be moved by.
