Just finished up a hamburger. Just put some garlic salt, pepper, and cheese on it.

Too damned salty! I almost couldn't eat it. :( That sucks because it's one of my favorite treats when in the thick of ketosis. But I need more salt. There is very little in my basic diet - maybe 300 mg. And I sweat a lot during my workouts. Once you get used to going without, just a little can be overwhelming.

When I lost the weight initially, one of my mainstays was Carls Jr.'s Guacamole Bacon Burger. Without the bun it's about 900 calories and keto friendly. That's a bit much so I would eat about 2/3 of it and then snack on it later. I'd treat myself about once a week. But I've always wished I would have done before and after photos. I could have been their new spokesman - I lost 70 pounds eating at Carls Jr.

For me this is my Sunday nite. I have had the past 3 days off. Slept mostly.

My week begins tomorrow evening with my first graveyard shift starting at 7 pm.

Then I'll work Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, and Wed graveyards. By Thur a.m. I will have 60 hours of work clocked for this coming week.

So for my Sunday nite dinner I am now having home cooked dim sum har gao.

To chase it I have red plum wine, and also moonshine.

Probably start with a shot of gin. Have not had gin in a while.

Can't drink alcohol again for another 6 days.

    Enjoy your weekend Barflies !!

    Mine is already over.

PS Sodium, I have been a little concerned about getting too little
Is there such a thing as eating too little sodium?
The body needs only a small amount of sodium (less than 500 milligrams per day) to function properly. That’s a mere smidgen — the amount in less than ¼ teaspoon. Practically no one in this country even comes close to eating less than that amount. Plus, healthy kidneys are great at retaining the sodium that our bodies need.

There is a misunderstanding of the cause of muscle burn. So I was reading up on the chemistry. Eeeeesh.

Bottom line, it is widely believed that lactic acid formation creates the sense of burning. But we really produce lactate, and excess Hydrogen ions are produce by the reaction of ATP, as well as through respiration.

So the question in my mind is, doesn't the lactate immediately bind with the free Hydrogen+s to form lactic acid? In either case, it is still the effect of Hydrogen Ions, which is what defines an acid. So it is still acid burn that you feel.

It's pretty cool, actually, when depleted of energy supplies, the muscles produce their own fuel.

I find the more you learn about this stuff, the more motivated you get.

Not high drama or related, but have you ever watched The Man from Earth? [2007]

I don't know if you go for that sort of thing but it's a real treat if you do. I suggest avoiding spoilers and taking a look. The acting is so so, even bad at moments, especially in the first few scenes, but the story makes it worth it. The entire movie is dialogue - people sitting in a living room talking. It has overtones of My Dinner with Andre, but is more entertaining.

Another favorite of mine is Happy Accidents. [2000] It's the only Sci-Fi RomCom I've ever seen. It's very well done. Uniquely quirky, but fun.

One of my top favorites is Metropolis [Fritz Lang, German, 1929]. Georgio Moroder re-released it in the 80s with a then modern soundtrack. I loved it and watched it about 20 times. :D Metropolis has been recognized as one of the best or most significant films ever made. Not sure of the language but it is considered to be a work of art.

And don't say some guy who looks like Jackie Robinson.

    No ... a majority of those type movie suck. - Metropolis - { 1927 } is
    too much a relic.
Vincent Price did - The Last Man on Earth - { 1964 } which was low
    budget but not half bad.But it was one of those Euro flicks { all Foreign cast }
Price was so good he could carry a movie on the sheer weight of his acting
    chops.
    Charlton Heston did a similar movie with - The Omega Man - { 1971 }
    which is excellent.
There are quite a few Last Man and Last Female offerings not worth
    the time of day.
Inger Stevens who I mentioned a couple weeks ago did a movie
with Harry Belefonte { I also mentioned on PF } which was interesting
    - The World,The Flesh and the Devil - { 1959 } ... again not half bad.
    But obviously low budget.
I like low budget B & W flicks as long as they seem 50 ish.
    I'm a 50's kinda guy.Like Stephen King was a huge fan of - Outer Limits -.
There's no - Outer limits - DVD available at this time.I had like a couple
    VHS from decades ago.
I watched the other day - The Killer Shrews - { 1959 } on my Cognac
night.Starring James Best { Dukes of Hazard } a very good actor in his
own right whose birth name is Jewel Guy from Kentucky.
Best has done some quality TV work in the 50's and 60's.
    I particularly like his - The Jar - { 1964 } from { Alfred Hitchcock Hour }.
It has literally an all star cast and it's only a short.William Marshall
the black actor with probably The Deepest voice in all Hollywood
plays Jahdoo in an almost Voodoo style role.Dealing with a desperate
man slowly sinking in quicksand in some spooky swamp area.

Been working on my perennial flower beds. I made a separate bed for my yellow day Lilly's. I also began to break apart my iris plants. I have a new bed of those also. I really should do this when they show color one year. Have a lot of work ahead.

No I've seen them.I even have some in my vast movie collection.
However there are 2 category of Movie I refuse to watch.
Troma and Psychotronic.I used to go weekly to the Midwest's biggest
Video rental store as far as titles. They even had Troma and Psychotronic
sections in their store.I never rented one that wasn't so pathetic
and cheap I could never even make it halfway thru.
The stores owner was not a Movie buff but a control freak.
He once did a Live TV interview on the local TV station and
maintained his favorite movie was :
    - Rat Pfink a Boo Boo - { 1966 }. I never thought he was serious
but after years of going to his store he was so complimentary to
new customers and locals but with me,that he knew was a Film Buff
and did Reviews he treated like discarded clothes from the Salvation
Army.Turned out he hired only employees who sucked-up to him
big time. This creep owner loved to talk about people behind their back.
    But his store was Great.

I'm impressed even if you didn't like them!

I go for well-written sci fi. Most of the alleged sci-fi out there is really fantasy or just blow-em-up crap. I especially like The Man from Earth because it is entirely dialogue driven. And it's a fun sleuthing exercise - i.e. does his story make sense?

Metropolis is old to be sure but the first time I saw it I was blown away. Pure art and way ahead of it's time! It was also the first use of an automaton or robot in a movie.

I remember Omega Man being a big deal because Heston made out with a black woman. THAT was a big deal then. Kirk had kissed Uhura 3 years earlier, which was the first interracial kiss on TV. But Heston was doing the dirty! I liked the movie but also remember people being upset by that scene. :D

I finally figured out what those two big dents in my lower belly are. They are the bottom of my six pack forming again! My six pack is coming back!!! Woohooo!!!!

My buddy says he likes beer so much that he has a kegger instead of a six pack.

With everything I've learned over the last six years, I'm cutting fat so fast it is almost scary. I can literally see the difference just between the time I go to bed, and when I get up.

It was fast the first time I did this over six years ago. But this is crazy! And I had a lot more fat to cut back then. By the time I got down to where I am now, it was really hard to cut. But this is coming off like water.

The biggest difference is that this time I am doing HIIT on a well-rounded routine. The first time I did it with nothing but two 20 Lb dumbbells. And I had never heard of HIIT back then.

How about Last Night [Canadian, 1998]

I especially liked the guy who decided to try everything sexual before he died. :D That was an amusing subplot. And something I can relate to a bit... LOL!!!

And a really strange one I liked: The Bothersome Man [Norwegian, 2006]

    twippy!!!

For dinner, Saturday evening (my Monday), before going to work:

    - beef a roni made with fresh ground steak, chopped onions, stewed tomatoes, frozen vegies, and flat noodles.

    - red wine would go perfectly with this however I can't drink alcohol before work, so I am having orangeade.

I am very picky about most new releases. There are some really good ones
though like - Water for Elephants - { 2011 } an odd period love story.
    And then some on the all guy side like : - Out of the Furnace - { 2013 }
with a very mean and displaced hillbilly in the form of Woody Harrelson.
Have you ever seen the notorious Banned movie - Natural Born Killers - {1994 } ?

I am re-watching parts of this movie because it's a little
confusing.Directed by the Great Sidney Lumet there is a
a few scenes { 3 } where the lead character { Philip Seymore
Hoffman } runs off to his drug dealer for a fix.But its a weird set-up.
Hoffman's character is in charge of accounting at a company in
N.Y.city so he's an executive type.He had this place { United Nations
Apartment } where he runs off to when he's depressed and gets greeted
by a skinny guy in Japanese Kimono who answers his door with a pistol
behind his back.Turnes out his apartment is very high rent as in
The United Nations Apartment complex.Very suave high rise.
That is also where Truman Capote lived when he was out of favor with
all his rich socialite friends.Hoffman won an Oscar for the movie - Capote -.
So this skinny young man in the loose japenese Kimono who can easily
be mistaken for a skinny female makes a living using his ritzy yet small
apartment to schedule appointment for customers looking to get
fixed { injected } with Heroin. They get injected by this skinny druggie
and then crash { who knows how long } at his pad until they are safe or
sober enough to leave.Ironic since Hoffman was found dead in a bathroom
7 years after this film with a couple packets of heroin on the floor.
So Art in Film may indeed imitate life. Not for the better.
