I have family buried under the Stars and Bars, but I also have family buried under the Stars and Stripes. It was brother against brother, people tend to forget that. I agree that America wasn't built by one demographic, black or white, male or female, young or old.

I'm just not sure how it is a "national security threat." Any idea what the troops that said this are talking about here?

Folks could probably tell you stories of their experiences with the Klan during their military service, but you know you guys would just blow it off as they are just making it up.

As with many "polls", I'm wondering how MT is extrapolating the information.

For example, if 40 people actually saw 2 people breaking the military code of conduct, stating they have seen people break the military code of conduct would be accurate. But what does that mean?

So one in four members of the military state they have seen something they believe is "nationalism" in the ranks. How many people holding those views does that equate to?

This is like one of those 'polls' where they asked the troops about females on the front lines..

But never asked anyone overseas at the time what they thought.

They pulled a few hundred POGs who count supplies or cook food until they got the result they wanted and then ran with it.

There was definitely white pride in my unit.

There was also black pride and brown pride too.

Everyone made fun of each other for everything. Black jokes, white jokes, fat jokes, your wife cheated on your jokes, removing the firing pin from unsuspecting lance corporal's rifles before going into combat, stealing NVGs.

If you had a little dick or moles or freckles or you were a chick or you couldn't do 20 pull ups or you couldn't run 5 miles or you couldnt carry a .50 cal or you couldnt input fill in the radio...

You got made fun of. Everyone got made fun of.

I miss the military sometimes. I still tell jokes now that many leftists would find offense but in all honesty, I dont give a **** and if you dont like it, move on.

I've answered all of your questions, but you keep avoiding mine. That's dishonest, kid. Get back to me when you decide to be fair.

My mother did pick cotton, along with lots of other Whites, at the beginning of WWII when there was a labor shortage.......yep, Whites picked cotton too. Not sure what your point is.........assuming you had one.

Racist military enlistees stealing dangerous weapons for what they see as a "racial holy war" is a serious problem.

When caught, instead of simply getting a dishonorable discharge, they need to do about 20 years with no parole in hard labor. That way the next misguided bubba mcnascar racist loner will think twice before enlisting for the wrong reason. Not if they spend the next 20 years doing hard time in a federal prison instead of going to a tractor pull or MMA cage fight and drinking a beer while enjoying they new dishonorably discharged freedom.

Nothing wrong with some pride as long as the Marine Corps takes precedence. Did you see any instances where a person's "pride" in their race went against the best interests of the Marine Corps? Your unit?

The Marine Corps is all about teamwork. Those with an "I dont give a **** and if you dont like it, move on" attitude will be thanked for their service and shown the door with their Terminal Lance paperwork in hand.

Stealing weapons is, indeed, a federal and imprisonable offense. I strongly doubt they'd be let off with a slap on the wrist.

It would be interesting to hear those stories.

My own experience in the military was that, if there were Klan type or similar, they would have been afraid to voice their beliefs. The Black soldiers were pretty militant and didn't seem to me to be intimidated at all. (This was during the later years of the struggle in the South -- 1967-70.) Of course many, maybe most, of the whites would be called 'racist' today, but things were changing. I think a lot of them basically accepted that Blacks had had a very bad deal in the US, even if they didn't like them very much.

I do recall one really naive white Mormon kid from Utah, one night in the barracks, explaining to the Blacks why they couldn't be priests in his church ... they bore the curse of the children of Ham or some such crazyness. At the time I remember thinking, "Dear God, he's dead" but they didn't do anything at all to him or even respond verbally. I think they must have respected his honesty, and/or saw him as a Holy Fool, or something.

One other thing I came away with was this: many of the Black guys were, as we say, not very academic. I don't think they would have done well on a paper-and-pencil test of some sort. But ... many of them were actually extremely quick, verbally ... very sharp in back-and-forth repartee ... (I think it's called 'rapping the dozens', or was. Similar to "Yo Mama .." dialogues.) . A lot more verbal and quick than the mainly rural white boys I was with, some of whom were a bit ... slow.. It made me skeptical of putting total faith in formal tests and formal learning, which may capture important things, but may also miss out on qualities that it's hard to measure with a set of numbers.

Often times they are making it up

The military chain of command s the least racist most guilt-ridden collection of whites in America outside of academia

Probably because I served and saw no klan, no did any of my friends. So yeah, your account is suspect.

Neo-Nazis excluded from military service by policy, but concerns persist
Time until the Neo-Nazi apologists chime in that the Stars & Stripes is a left-wing rag.

Yes. But can't you see what's wrong with making the blanket statement "whites built America"?

In his Second Inaugral Address, Lincoln said the following:
Why not acknowledge that 250 years of unrequited toil?

Klan members were few, but existed. Just because you nor I saw any personally doesn't mean anything since, unless people voiced racist ideology, I doubt we'd be invited to the meetings or cross-burnings.

He's obviously never served and, IMHO, he's too young to serve even if he wanted to do so...which I doubt he would.
