I live in Utah, not that it is any of your business. In Utah, missionaries are part of the landscape and quite pervasive.

Then there is the internet which has inhabitants such as you insisting that only their view is valid.

    Comprehension is vital here.

I am asking why, to any and all belief systems, they care what others think. Not to hard to understand if one is willing to ask the hard questions.

Apparently all to few are willing to do this for whatever reason.

A grossly incorrect statement. However, since you have nothing to offer other than insults and false accusations, I'll freely resign from "your" thread. Good luck, kid.

You won't "resign". You just can't help yourself from spreading false information and declaring it to be true because you say so. The actions of a small mind and a fragile ego, KID.

Comprehension is good but so is communication.

Give me an example of what bugs you in general.

Once again, comprehension is vital here.

The question itself says it all, why? Why do these people insist on telling you what they believe and what you should believe?

I have said it repeatedly, I down't care what they believe as it is meaningless to me. Yet no one has given an actual answer.

Is it to hard to understand?

Who does that? Tell me about the time some one walked up to you and told you what to believe.

When people are very religious they tend to be intolerable bigots. That's because religions as a whole instruct their believers that they are better than everyone else and that they shouldn't associate with non-members.

Being a member of a religious cult can be financially rewarding if you sell something that the cultists need. It can be special clothes, books, movies, pilgrimages, etc. That's why some believers get upset when their group is attacked. Their income streams are at risk.

Following a religious doctrine will not result in a better moral life because religions are not concerned with morality.

You apparently intentionally ignored the fact that I said I live in Utah, the Mormon missionary capital of the world. That is all they do and are trained to do.

Time for your next attempt to dismiss something that you know absolutely nothing about.

When cultists recruit new members to their cult they stand to gain financially and socially. If they can recruit you then you will put some cash into their pocket, especially if it's a neighborhood cult. Such neighborhood churches were very effective in blocking racial integration and fair housing. That's because if the cult members sold their property to other racial groups then those racial groups would want to bring in their own cult organization. The old established cult would lose members and money and eventually go out of business. It's all about the money.

Remember when Moses came down from the mountain with the stone tablets. He got super pissed because people were participating in a new cult and diverting their money to it instead of giving him the cash. So he killed them.

I'm not trying to dismiss you. I'm trying to figure out what your question means. I scanned the....many pages ....of this thread and finally came to the post where you live in Utah. I don't know much about mormans. If mormans are hounding you I would be just shutting them down with a simple "I'm not interested in discussing this topic" .

I don't relate to your question. I used to be an Atheist, now I'm a Christian and at no time did I have people coming up to me asking what I believed in. Except for the Jehovah Witnesses that come to my door and I tell them I'm not interested and I ask they stay safe as they go to the next house.

You sound angry and frustrated but you aren't coming up with specifics to give me an understanding of what makes you feel that way.

    Some thoughts..

    1. Anyone can start a thread, and request parameters for discussion. They do not own the thread, nor the ideas, which are always open for scrutiny.
    2. A thread based on assumptions is subject to analysis of the assumptions. You cannot demand that everyone accept the assumptions without question.
    3. A thread that is used to pitch false narratives, or is an invitation for others to chime in with only positive support for the assumptions, is not open debate, but propaganda.
    4. I have spent a lot of time in Utah. My daughter lives there with her family, I own property there, and know a lot of locals.. mostly mormon. I do not see a lot of proselytizing.. no more than anywhere else.
    5. Freedom of conscience and expression means that sometimes you will hear things you disagree with. You are not entitled to a safe space, nor an echo chamber, where only your beliefs are repeated and given props. Why would you want that, anyway?
    6. Your short assumption: 'Why do so many care?', after seeing your followups, and the collective jeering from your ideological cronies, makes me conclude this to be a 'Christian bash!', not a topic for real debate.
    7. What is worse? An open society that allows and encourages free expression of ideas and freedom of conscience, or a state sponsored, state mandated Indoctrination of a particular belief system, as is done with progressive ideology today?
    8. You seem to be ONLY addressing Christian based beliefs, and not others, like atheistic ones, that are proselytized on the forums with equal or more zeal than any theistic ones.

Some folks care because religious people and non religious people tend to vote their values. Those values differ greatly in some aspects.

There, you answered your own question. People feel threatened by things outside their experience and worldview - be it a different ideology, a different religion, a different skin color, a different mindset, a different whatever. We are wired that way. There are only three possible responses to threat: fight, flight, freeze. Fight - ideologically speaking - is the default response in civilized societies because the risk of physically hurting ourselves in the process is very low, virtually non-existent in forums.

I think that most answers on a topic - any topic - are either from people who feel threatened (even if they're unaware of their own fear themselves), or from people with an agenda (which is not automatically and necessarily a bad thing - some people's agendas, for instance, include sharing information and learning from others). Or both.

Contrary to the prevalent narrative that people don't change their minds when their position is attacked with pertinent arguments, I'm quite sure that arguments influence most people - if not enough to change their minds, at least enough to make them think and re-evaluate some of their beliefs while searching for adequate responses. I've seen it happening.

You admit that you know nothing about the subject yet you feel free to judge it with your admitted lack of knowledge.

Don't know if you ever truly were an atheist but you are now displaying classic Christian behavior, judging what you know nothing about and trying to convince others of your wisdom(?) while only proving your lack of it.

BTW, if you truly "don't relate" to the question, why do you feel qualified to comment on it? More hypocrisy from an admitted theist.

All of your "points" are mere assumptions by you. This does not make them true or even valid for any other person.

You try to assign terms and conditions to my statements without asking specific questions as to why I make those statements. This alone invalidates any comment that you have made so far, showing a prejudice on the subject and an unwillingness to even attempt an adult conversation.

Once again, for the slow in class, I do not care what you believe or don't believe in religion. It is that simple, though I suspect some of you will try to twist the statement again as you have so far. No specific religion or lack thereof cited. Equal opportunity statement that I don't care about any of them and wonder why they feel it necessary to push their beliefs on others, especially if one tells them that they are not interested. That is not an attack, as you claim, but a dismissal of what they claim.

    Now try to comprehend that.

And some folks just can't stand that anyone disagrees with them and does not do as they are told.

That's easy! You ignored all my points and made a sweeping dismissal! ..fairly typical tactic, especially from progressive indoctrinated 'debaters', but it is still avoidance and dismissal.. with a bit of ad hom for flavor! ;)

All of your "points" were factitious, as usual. Just because you say them does not make them true. In fact, judging from your posting history, it pretty much ensures that they are false and just made up to boost your ego. That fails, BTW.

This type of action is a truly progressive attitude and action, which you try to assign to another while committing it yourself.

Perhaps if you came up with an actual intelligent argument it would be enlightening. As it is, you continue to avoid the topic of this thread and make personal attacks against me, yet claim to be a debater. As usual, you are wrong.

I see. Ad hom, distortion, and dismissal, with unevidenced assertions. These are fallacies, not intelligent debate. I will try to remember to avoid replying to you in the future.

Well, at least you admit what you do and admit that you run away from any who dare to dispute your warped views. I suppose that this action could be considered progress from you.

Sorry for the long response time, I've been on vacation.
In part, one of my other "reasons" accounts for that, and not everyone discusses in order to convince.

sure but good luck opening the eyes of neoatheists who are trying to convince everyone that agnostics are really atheists.

They insist God is a delusion and have no proof what so ever
